Please enjoy the multitudes of crazed enthusiasts paying 50-200% over normal retail price for their chance to diddle an iPhone.

eBay listings for iPhones

Is there anyone here who would actually pay over $1,000 for one of these things instead of ordering it from Apple.com and waiting a couple of weeks?

Is there a medical word to describe what's wrong with some of these bidders?

On the other hand, I enjoy imagining some of these sellers wetting themselves over the price their iPhone is drawing, only to have the buyer back out.

I think it looks like a kind of neat gadget if it works well, but I'm not coming in my undies over it, and I'm sure as shit not going to pay even the retail price of it for a phone that plays music and really tiny movies.

The "secondary market" is already so saturated with iPhones that some are going for less than retail with under one minute left on the auction. I see several 8GB models going for a little over $500.

Oops?

Hopefully, soon e-bay resellers will learn that scalping is only lucrative when not a lot of people do it. And stop. But that's probably too much rational thought to expect from your average greedy idiot.

no... I've got an iPod and a cell phone... that's enough distraction for me... plus I'd rather not have to depend on one single gadget for all my needs, just think of the day it breaks...

I don't like cell phones. I'm not sure why I would want to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars for one that also does some other stuff.

I love this one. The bidding starts at $30,000 and I think it comes with a free baby. I really hope my wife doesn't see it.

I also like this one that starts at $5,000.
