Windows Movie Maker

Does anyone have a good grasp on how this program works? And if you do, would you be willing to help me out?

I am trying to edit a movie, but each time I try to import it into WMM it tells me that an unspecified error has occurred. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening or what I can do to make it so it won't happen?

what type of file are you trying to import? you might have to convert it to avi or something like that.

It is an AVI already.

Hmm, must be something wrong with the file. As long as you are either dragging the file into the program physically, or hitting CTRL+I (or File->Import Into Collections) it should work.

What specific error are you getting? Can you just drag the error window out of the way and still use the program?

No, I can't work around it. In fact the two times I have tried it, it says the error and then crashes the program.

I just tried it with another movie and the same thing happened. It works with some avi files, but not others. Grrrr.
