Here's an idea: Next time you hear a domestic dispute that involves two people yelling about how they're going to kill each other, call 911. Some might think this sounds obvious, but the neighbors of Julie Ann Bayne-McGaffick chose a different tactic when they heard a heated argument coming from her apartment: They blasted The Beatles' tune, "All You Need is Love."
Ramsey said the two witnesses told police when they heard "raised voices" coming from the couple's apartment, they attempted to calm things down by blaring out the Beatles 1967 paean to universal love on their stereo speakers.
"They believed they were doing what they felt was right," Ramsey said of the witnesses.
Good thinking, except, um--Julie Ann's body was later found floating in the Sacramento River. Oops.
An autopsy showed she died from blunt force trauma to the head.
Her live-in boyfriend, Robert Andrew Carlos, 40, was scheduled Tuesday to enter a plea to a charge of murder in Butte County Superior Court.
yeah i called the cops on my former neighbors once. they sounded like they had passed the point of just yelling and moved into violence. the cops arrived pretty quickly, but the couple upstairs refused to answer the door. the genius cop then decides to knock on MY door asking ME questions about the incident. so much for anonymity.
All you need it blunt force trauma to the head. Perhaps if they had blasted some Converge or the like instead, the wife would have had the adrenaline to defend herself. Her aging-hippy beatles neighbors are responsible for her death. Bastages.
Everyone around here gets along pretty well, 'cept for the one neighbor's ex wife, who is a total scumbag bitch, and she ALWAYS has the cops helping her leave....yet she still has weekend custody of the kids...what the fuck is up with that?
Unfortunate story( shows how stupid some people can be( to play music when you hear a heated argument which at any point could become violent))...Would have been more interesting if the murderer (Robert Carlos, at the moment of hearing the music) had ran out of the apartment screaming and jumped out of a window landed in a trash can and ran down the streets with a pair of panties on his head while screaming "Bigfoot caused 9/11"...LOL...

...what?
It was an attempt at humor; I was simply stating that it would have been better if at the moment of hearing the song, he stopped all that he was doing and went nuts...
Duuuuuude. I'm totally paranoid about neighbors fighting. Whenever I hear raised voices, I've got my ear up to the wall - not eavesdropping, but listening if I need to call the cops. Clearly, these folks were not quite neurotic enough.
people just don't relate to the beatles like they used to, haha. i guess people these days need more than just love. but yeah, that's kind of fucked up.
