Here's your mitzvah for this week.

The Point Foundation provides scholarships and mentoring to LGBT student leaders at all educational levels. They and Yahoo have come up with an easy funraising drive; for every photo uploaded to the group's photo pool, Yahoo will donate $1 and up to $25,000. \

Currently, The Point Foundation provides scholarships to 94 people, one of whom emailed me about this; they

select Point Scholars based on social, emotional and financial need, scholastic aptitude and leadership potential. We pay particular attention to those students who have lost the financial and social support of their families and/or communities as a result of revealing their sexual orientation or gender identity.

Photos don't necessarily need to be of pride (especially if participants aren't queer or didn't go to pride), but they just need to be representative of people who are proud to be LGBT or are proud of LGBT people.

Instructions:
1. Go to The Point Foundation website
2. Click on the Worldwide Pride 2007 (Yahoo) link (third item down in the far-right column; lavender colored)
3. Create a Yahoo ID if you do not have one
4. Join the Worldwide Pride 2007 photo pool
5. Upload your photos
6. Create multiple Yahoo IDs
7. Go back to step one, wash, rinse and repeat!
8. Be proud of yourself.

Bitch_PhD wishes her town had a pride parade.

Thats nifty, though I am disgusted and disturbed by Homosexual relationships, I think they deserve all the freedoms I have, and it is cool that a group like this exists to help people in their categories and situations, more power to you fairies.

I'm sure that Homosexuals really appreciate the fact that although you are "disgusted and disturbed" by the fact that they love each other, you are just BARELY p.c. enough to think that they should be allowed the same freedoms as the rest of the citizenry.

I'm also sure that they really appreciate the capitalization, since that makes them, in your mind, somehow more important than straight people.

By the way, "more power to you fairies" is such a LOVELY sentiment. You should put that on a card. Or maybe a t-shirt. Or maybe someone should bend you over and brand it on your ass.

Oh gees, don't get all but hurt about it, it's not like I said we should stoke the next Auschwitz with their mutilated bodies. No, I suppose I didn't phrase it correctly, I find gay sex gross, I should I am straight, but that doesn't mean I hate gays. Please though, focus on this wonderful article and the opportunities it offers not on my revolting and intolerant comments. This is why law suits happen idiots like me.

Surely, you have heard the theory that those that make sure everyone knows they think homosexuality is gross are in the closet. Don't ask, don't tell!

I find gay sex gross

Really, if you think about it, the idea of most people having sex is pretty gross. Try picturing your folks doing it, for example.

Not to pick overmuch on Aldoushuxley, though, who may be a bigot but really should get big props, actually, for being able to recognize that that's his problem and shouldn't have any bearing on the rights of teh gays. Seriously. Y'all should give people like him credit.

What makes you think that anyone gives one flying fuck what your personal opinion of his/her sex life is? No one asked you for your opinion on whatever it is that you think "gay sex" entails. Why are you possibly spending enough time thinking about homosexual relationships that you've become "disturbed" by them? Do you think any of the various combinations of people identifying as various combinations of genders who are off having sex with each other right now as I'm typing this are thinking about you or your relationships? Or thinking about what you must think about how totally laid they're getting right now at this moment?

It's just so self-absorbed. Y'know?

I'm going to go out on a limb here....but I'll wager a bet that the guy who chose that particular image for his profile pic wasn't chiding aldoushuxley for his homophobia.

Of course...I could be wrong...and the guy is just a HUGE Ed Norton fan...a HUGE Ed Norton fan who is totally straight....and totally did NOT get a chubby during the shower rape scene....because he's straight.

In his defense, I'm sure that most heterosexual men don't exactly spend their hours thinking about how awesome sex with another man would be. In fact, most straight men would find the idea, well, gross.

That hardly makes them bigots.

This is true. But the thought of two consenting men having sex isn't something I find gross. Or weird. Even though I would never want to be involved.

I wouldn't say that thinking something is gross is a "problem".

I find a lot of things disturbing but that doesn't mean I'm a bad person or have bad ideas.

I'm not saying I hate (Group) or want to take away any rights or anything like that. I just mean that in a country founded on freedom of thoughts and beliefs I find it odd how having a belief or thought that doesn't infringe on the rights of anyone else is often bashed.

If someone is uncomfortable around something or someone, they have just as much right to openly be, as long as it's not hateful, as the person involved in the act that the uncomfortable feelings are derived from.

Bottom line really is that if you don't like someone or something, you have just as much right to not like it as they do like it. As long as both parties are respectful about the issue, I see no problem.
