It's about time. On Wednesday, Republican representative from Connecticut, Christopher Shays and Democratic senator Frank Lautenberg from New Jersey introduced the Access to Birth Control Act, legislation to require pharmacists to stock Plan B if they supply any form of contraception.
The bill, authored by Rep. Carolyn Maloney, D-N.Y., would make it illegal for a pharmacy to refuse to fill birth control prescriptions and require pharmacies to help, not hinder, a woman's ability to access contraception.

I just laugh at the name Plan B. What went wrong during Plan A?
Yeah, I always thought that it was less than classy.
I suppose it is just making sure no one attempts to use it as their sole form of birth control. It kind of hints that you better have a plan A or you are an idiot. Which is pretty much true.

Hehe.
Seriously though, this makes me very happy. Here's to hoping it goes through.
Hah! Priceless.
I hope this helps to turn the tide. Seriously, Plan B isn't an abortion.
Do you know what the most effective protection against pregnancy and abortions is? No, not abstinence-only education - fuck off! :p It's a complete sexual education in schools that teaches kids about responsible sex, how to protect yourself, and that abstinence is ok, too.

While I support the legislation (thank GODS for Plan B), it would seem some parts of this country are going completely anti-contraception anyway. This might just speed the process. I have clear visions of pharmacists whose 'faith is just so strong' that they stop carrying condoms too.
After all, sex out of marriage is just unholy, and sex in marriage is just for babies. Who on earth should need contraception?

I suppose it's a good thing that at least one person read the article. The act is bullshit political grandstanding. Anyone who objects morally will simply remove all forms of contraception and not be in violation of the act (ABC). It does absolutely nothing to assure that woman will be able to obtain contraception at businesses where the proprietors maintain a moral objection, which is ironic because that is the explicit purpose stated in the body of the act. If you wish to read the actual text of ABC it can be found here. Fucking hurray for absolutely nothing. It's a bunch of BS. If you really want to accomplish something write your representative and tell them you want the "in the normal course of business" exception removed.
I really hope there's not a bunch of pharmacies that'll use this as an excuse to stop providing any other form of contraception (after all, they want those dirty fornicators to go to heaven, not hell).
