This is my favorite movie of all time, basically. Unfortunately, when I bought it I bought it on VHS. I need it on DVD, and apparently I can't find it on DVD (US format) ANYWHERE.

If anyone knows where to find this, please PM me. I'll pay you, of course, I just have to own this movie!

My research brings up seven movies titles "Flirt". Can you give me year and some of the cast?

Most certainly. I am looking for Hal Hartley's "Flirt" from 1995. Some actors include John Robert Burke, Martin Donovan, and Parker Posey. The IMDB link can be found . right here. Sorry I wasn't more specific!

I love that movie. The only thing I know of that is available is a region-free PAL disc that has unfortunately been cropped into 4:3. I found one here, but you may be able to find a better deal if you look a little while. Have you tried looking for a bittorrent? There may be a better copy of it around that you could make your own dvd out of, or you might get someone to transfer your vhs to dvd..

I looked around BitTorrent and haven't found anything, which is really unfortunately. I suppose I could find someone who could convert my VHS copy to DVD, but it would look like shit.

Hopefully someone will be able to find it. I know it sounds strange, and there's a longish story behind it, but that movie actually kind of saved my life.

You could probably get a version that's encoded from another region, and use DVD Decrypter to convert it and burn a new DVD for the North American region.

Good point. If I did that is there a good place with instructions for how to do that?

Isn't it amazing?

Wanna know the story of how it saved my life?

SPOILERS! (Click to view)
So, when I was being really overly emotional and melodramatic and, well, 18, I was a cutter. My boyfriend had just broken up with me and I thought it was the end of the world. I had also rented "Flirt" from my local indie video store. Anyway, as I was sitting watching it I was planning on overdosing. But you know how each story has some lines that are repeated? Well, one of them changed my mind completely. Hearing it, I knew that giving up on life and love because of one bad thing was weak, and I decided against it. It was a conversation that went something like this:

A: He loved me once. Why can't he love me now?
B: People change.
A: I don't change
B: Maybe you will.
A: I don't want to change.
B: Sometimes you have to.

And that's when I realized I had to get over all my stupid teenaged bullshit and let myself really live again. I even wrote Hal Harley a letter thanking him for that scene. Which, obviously, is why I am so desperate to own a DVD version of this movie.

Spoilers contain deep teenage type confessions that explain my obsession with this movie.
