Hopefully this works out wonderfully, though I'm a bit worried about Gaiman as a first-time director. It's not like that's a job you can just suddenly know how to do.

My pic for Death is Eliza Dushku. I think she can pull off the dark side and the goofy side of Death. She just needs to stay out of the tanning bed for a few weeks.

It wouldn't be Gaiman's first turn as director. I can't remember what exactly he's done, but he's been director on a few different things. He's certainly not super-experienced, and I don't think he's done a feature film (certainly nothing on the scale this would need to be), but he's not a total novice either. And really, what would be a better way to get more experience than directing his own material?

by directing someone else's material, that's how. there is a far greater chance, i feel, of him fucking this up because he is so close to the material. there's a chance he could focus so much on the details, that he forgets the big picture. if he hasn't done anything on this scale before, AND it's his own baby, then like i said before, i hope he has a damned good production team backing him up.

...but what about Evette? I nominate her for the part of Death. I'll give Neil a call right now and tell him that whatever else happens, I've got that Death thing handled.

As far as SG's go, I'd pick Nixon over Evette. She's got the perky, matter-of-fact aspect that's essential to the character.

I think it's much more likely that his unsurpassed knowledge of the material would translate into the best possible rendition of it in this alternate format.

Provided, of course, that he's any good at directing. I'm not familiar enough with his previous work as a director to say for sure.

I read that Fairuza Balk has had her eye on the role ever since it was optioned, but I don't like her.

I like Zooey for the role.

Shia Lebouef is a fucknostril. We need more teenage actors, so he gets less roles.

"Teenager Sexton Furnival meets a young woman who claims to be Death, taking on mortal flesh for one day in a century to walk among men. She seems like just another London goth girl, except maybe a little more eccentric. Is she crazy? Or is Sexton really in the company of a perky anthropomorphic representation of a human condition?"

Man... such a catchy tagline!
