He also claimed

"I'm a very well-educated, successful, intelligent person,"

after he was told he had the most highly dangerous form of Tuberculosis known to man and that he should immediately turn him self in for treatment.

Instead he snuck out of Europe, over to Canada, and into the United States because he thought

You're nuts. I'm not going to do that.

He was on honeymoon in Rome at the time and apparently just felt that the barbaric medical institutions of Europe could not possibly treat him properly.

Oh now that's just really stupid. Who goes on holiday - even a honeymoon - once told that they have something like TB?

"This is insane to me that I have an armed guard outside my door when I've cooperated with everything other than the whole solitary-confinement-in-Italy thing."

Yeah, the whole solitary confinement 'thing' The 'thing' where you don't knowingly take your contagious ass around lots of people.

Like there aren't first class hospitals in Italy. whatever

Maybe he didn't exactly "endanger the world" , but what a fuckin asshole.
If it turns out he has like, an IQ of 50 , then I can maybe see excusing him.

But if he really is an intelligent and educated adult and he knowingly did that I really think he should be charged with something.

I think it also exposes some major flaws in the system that are a little unnerving.

I couldn't believe this asshole. His excuse was "I can't believe they didn't force me into isolation BEFORE I left for my honeymoon". You mean you can't believe that they told you not to infect two continents and you left anyway, and then sneaked around so you wouldn't get caught? Intelligent and educated, my ass.

How can you argue with logic like that?

OMG, he actually went away while he was sick ? Damn... I thought he got sick over there and came back, I didn't knew he was sick even before going away !

One day we're all gonna die cause someone as stupid as that guy... seriously, you're told you've got TB, I dunno about people but the first thing that goes through my mind is I just hope I don't get anyone sick, and I go back home or isolate myself somewhere in a hospital.

I take this shit seriously. I had to undergo an entire battery of medications because some fuck-stick didn't tell me that he had active TB. My line of work puts me in direct contact with sick people...and my only request is that you fucking TELL ME if you have a dangerous communicable disease.

These medications I had to take were harsh, I felt constantly ill...and the doctor even informed me that they could harm my liver. I had to take this medication for months....that's not even taking into account the sleepless nights, wondering if I was going to contract TB.

Fuck this guy...fuck everyone who knowingly conceals the fact that they have a communicable disease. I'd like to teach him a lesson with a broken beer bottle & some rubbing alcohol. Of course, I realize that I'm not exactly un-biased in this particular case.

This reminds me of what happened here during the SARS epidemic.

The disease came here from southern China, hundreds of people were infected, and dozens died. As part of the effort to control the outbreak, the government closed all schools for a week.

A number of local parents immediately took advantage of the impromptu vacation ... by booking family holidays to southern China.

Yeah, people are fucking stupid.

When I was dispatching ambulances, they picked up a patient and weren't told that he had TB, and the old dude SPIT on one of the medics. They didn't find out he had TB until the hospital was kind enough to call us 4 days later, after he had spit on 3 of their nurses, and they wondered if he had done the same to our medics.

Are you fucking shitting? That makes him the most conceited, selfish, self-centered little fucker to ... GODDAMMIT I hate it when smart people can't be bothered to act a little humanely once in a while. Of all the people who should have known better... I hope his CDC microbiologist dad disowns him, or burns all of his inheritance in a bonfire in front of his son's house, so his lawyer ass can never get it. And fucks his new wife.

And that's still not fitting... the guy was a walking potential manslaughter case, if you ask me. Can't you be charged if you screw someone while you know you have AIDS? Is this any different?
