The Cable Guy has got to be the most sickeningly shat upon movie. Not only do I think it's a solid comedy, but for my money is my favorite Jim Carrey performance. Granted I'm not that big of a Jim Carrey fan, but we can all blame that on over-rated steaming piles like the Truman Show and that newer sloppy movie about him durring the hollywood blacklisting.

True, the cable guy was solid, but it was so different from his earlier stuff (and really didnt compare all that well to his earlier stuff) that it will probably always be panned as a horrible movie.
I didn't realize this was a thread about some movie I've never seen, but I would like to say that straightening metal slinkies is both a guilty pleasure and underrated.

handle, sir, if you look at my profile, the first talkie that you will see listed in my favorite films is..."the Cable Guy." I think it's a fuckin' hy-larious flick, and it has a great message as well. I think that the reason that most people didn't like it was because Carrey was not playing the lovable doofus, but his character was creepy and disturbed. Someday, it will be recognized.
But I also feel that way about "Cheech & Chong's Next Movie," so what the hell do I know.
