If I've said more than once " Oh I'll keep that because I might wear it on such and such an occasion " then I throw it. I'm actually about to do a major clearout myself and a lot of my things have been packed away for a year now. I thought this would help me throw them out as I've not needed them in the last year, but instead I keep finding things I forgot I had and get all excited about wearing them. i just put away my winter clothes this weekend which led me to tossing out one whole large bag of clothes, It's so hard to let go, i still fit in clothes from the 80's!
But my new rule of thumb is, if i don't absolutly love it, and i have not worn it in 2-3 years it's going! I'm some what of a clothing pack rat, i feel your pain, but if you keep buying new items then you must let go of some of the old and forgotten to make room.
