Anyone excited about the fact that he is making a new movie?

I have seen most of his films and Ilove them all.

His comic books are brilliant too

Possibly, El Topo was the only movie I liked so much I bought it. Here is a quote from IMDB:
"Jodorowsky's long awaited sequel to El Topo was originaly supposed to be called "The Sons of El Topo" but disputes over ownership with Allen Klein forced Jodorowsky to change the title to "Abelcain" and the name "Topo" to "Toro." On the subject, Mr. Jodorowsky had the following to say: "I am now working on a Franco-Canadian production called Abelcain, which is a new version of the same project. The character El Topo has become El Toro. A single slash added on letter P changed a subterranean rat into a charging bull. For a true artist, difficulties become opportunities. And clouds become solid present."

I think The Holy Mountain is probably the most visually rich film ever. I liked El Topo too, and checked out an old book with the script and a long interview. I wrote about this at length in my journal months ago; one of my favorite things in the book was that he wanted to film a pirate movie...on the streets of New York city...and he wanted to star Frank Zappa in it.

Santa Sangre is pretty good, but it's more normal than the earlier films...which isn't to say it's normal, but it's more of a linear story. I have Fando & Lis on DVD because it just came out, but I have to get a DVD player still so I haven't watched it...supposedly, The Rainbow Thief was kinda ruined by the studio execs, and Alexandro said he hated working with Peter OToole, that he was really hard to get along with.

El Topo and The Holy Mountain are out of print here, and yeah it's because of Allen Klein (there's an audio interview online where Alexandro says they're "waiting for each other to die" to secure the rights to certain things) but you can get copies (laser disc onto VHS) from trashpalace.com under the category "collector's tapes." They're $15 apiece, and to say they're "worth it" is a gigantic understatement.

I'm not crazy about the Jodorowsky comic I have. But if he makes a movie I'll definitely see it.

ps - Vim likes Alexandro, too.

Does it make me a horrible human being that I found "El Topo" laughably bad, but rather enjoy "Metabarons" (Dune ripoff and all)?

Hurray for this thread!
I'm a big fan of the man himself, Sr. Jodorowsky and my father were really close friends during the 70s, before Jodorowsky got kicked out of Mexico for doing The Holy Mountain. They even worked on some comic strips named Fabulas Panicas.

I'm also a jodorowsky fan, though til this day i have yet to see "Fando & Lis", and "Santa Sangre" still remains my favorite of all his films. I'm looking forward to his new pic, because love him or hate him, he will get a reaction out of you. I remember when i was younger, reading an interview with him in Penthouse magazine and i thought "He is either insane, or he is on drugs" Turns out , i was right on both counts. I find him fascinating

No, it doesn't make you a horrible human being... it just make you a human being with shit for taste. tongue

I love Jodo's work and the man himself seems to be awesome. I've been waiting so long for "Tryptych".

Yeah, the naked boy... I'm sure there is some sort of symbolism there, but I just cant get it either.
