What are you reading right now?

I am teetering between the mammoth task of reading Gravity's Rainbow and the slightly more managable Bend Sinister.

I have a lot of down time at work. At my desk, I keep All Tomorrow's Parties - William Gibson, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland - Lewis Carrol, and the Denma Translation of The Aet of War - Sun Tzu.

I'm dredging through my collection of 1970's/80's Isaac Asimov's Science Fiction Magazine. Tons of amazing short sci-fi.

Also just finished First Voyages, which is a collection of in/famous sci-fi author's first published sales. Scanners Live in Vain, Time Trap, Tomorrow's Children, just damn amazing shorts from the mid 1940's to the 1960's. I heart classic sci-fi.

I am considering re-reading The Tomorrow People.

I just finished reading a book on cannibalism entitled "Cannibal Killers", and right now I'm going back and forth between a book on how to improve my strategies in go, House of Leaves, and I'm trying to finish "Simulacra and Simulation". Think Gravity's Rainbow is hard? Feh.

S&S was great for me, but my god I can't believe you're reading that for your own benefit. Do you flog yourself every ten pages?

I'm currently reading Down the Highway, a Dylan bio, Small Pieces Loosely Joined, a pretty questionable book about the web, Cyberpunk and Cyberculture, and I keep trying to start Saramago's The Cave. And lots of back issues of the Wire, as always.

I'm reading War and Peace.
Next, I was thinking of possibly reading Dante's Inferno, or maybe The Collected Works of Emily Dickinson.

I AM THE SMARTEST MAN ALIVE!!!

(Actually, I'm a pompous tool, but most people will believe anything they read. Nice irony, huh?)

2000AD is where Judge Dredd spawned, yes? Where did you get them?

Ha. I've also got a Roland Barthes reader that I'm occasionally thumbing through, although Barthes is a much clearer writer.

Actually, I pretty much despise Emily Dickinson. She wrote a few good poems, but the majority of it is senseless meandering in written form.

She didn't even want her poems published.

Y'know what's funny about Emily Dickinson? All her poems fit to the theme from "Gilligan's Island". Try it.

Also, another funny thing about her is that she's NO relation to Bruce Dickinson, the lead singer for Iron Maiden.

Okay, that wasn't so funny. Bite me.

I'm in the middle of reading a book on the history of
Freemasonry, and it's relation to the Knights Templar, and a
book by Michael Moorcock called " The Dreamthief's Daughter", which ranks as one of the best fantasy/sci-fi books I've read in ages.
