The Ataris are back, no not your 2600 so put your thumb away. The rock band, which back in 2003 released the hit album So Long, Astoria. Now after four long years and leaving their major label theyve teamed up with Sanctuary Records for Welcome the Night. I got a chance to talk with their lead singer Kris Roe.
I've been listening to a ton of my favorite bands from high school lately and The Ataris were really up there, so it's rad to see them back in the spotlight again, even if they now sound almost unrecognizably different. I wish I had the photograph of me and Brooke and Laura and Alisha with Kris Roe after the show at Mira Mesa Epicentre on tour for Blue Skies, Broken Hearts. A month's worth of grounding for getting home after midnight was worth it. I do think I still have the sticker he signed.
"My Hotel Year" will always be one of my all-time desert island songs.
