I bring this up because I was just going through my mail. This applies to any mail you get with a No Postage Necessary If Mailed In The US box: credit card offers, free vacation offerings, You've won one Million Dollars! now here's all you have to do.. bullshit offerings, anything of this sort. Tear up all the paper they give you, or if it's too much just some of it, and stick it in the envelope. Next time you go to the mail box send that sucker off. Haa haa. They have to pay for junk you send them back. Hopefully they'll stop sending you crap you don't ask for.
I don't do this all the time but some times all the junk is irritating.
Just a suggestion
It's probably far less rewarding, but if you want the junk mail to stop, send the envelope back with a little note that says:
Please delete my name from your mailing list.
Please do not rent my name to other organizations.
Please add my name to your suppression and/or killfile.
This will reduce the number of ways that all those places can get your name into their mailing lists. In time, the junk mail will start to become less and less...
heh, i used to find thin, heavy-ass pieces of metal to stuff inside the envelope before i sent them back, based on the (true or erroneous?) assumption that more weight = more postage they'd have to pay. I think Adbusters suggested wrapping the envelope around a brick, or something of the sort, but i can't imagine the post office would actually mail it back to them..
OOOOH NO! What you do is take a cue from my buddy Jake:
He used to take all the free postage return cards he could get his hands on and write the most focked up sheet you ever read on them, ala
'I'm wearing diapers. My mommy says diapers will save my life one day. I like sitting in caca. My mommy tells me that too. Do you like sitting in caca? Are you sitting in caca now? You have a a very shapely bum."
That's not nearly as good as his stuff, but you get the idea.
Sometimes it just feels nice that someone sent me somethng. Even if it is an offer to change my phone company. But then, I get over it and throw it in the trash.
