We all know Quentin Tarantino is a bit of an asshole. But really: a Rapist "action figure"?!?

The doll's based on Tarantino's character in the latest exploitation shlock "Grindhouse," and--I guess because Tarantino doesn't even know the meaning of the word "shame," it looks like him. The manufacturer says, gleefully,

While you most likely will not find our Grindhouse action figures on the shelves at your local Toys R Us, they are available now!

Oh. Goody. It's not available to kids.

Just to grownup men, or fucked up women, who think it would be cool to own a rape doll.

Somehow I'm not the least bit reassured.

Newsflash, Mr. Tarantino: rape isn't a game, it isn't funny, and it isn't cool.

Bitch_PhD liked Pulp Fiction and Kill Bill as much as the next gal, but there are limits.

Yeah, it's a really stupid idea for a "toy". I chalk it up to pure ego.

In his defense, though, the character in the film isn't portrayed positively. He's a monster, a really disgusting monster, and he gets what's coming to him.

It seems like a pretty fucked up excuse for Quentin to have his likeness immortalized in plastic.

I saw an interview with him and he brought out the doll. I was more than a bit taken aback, but to be honest, I'm not much surprised.

Is this really that big of a deal? I've had action figures, not named Osama or HItler, that have committed terrorism (Cobra Commander) and attempted mass mass genocide (Magneto). I turned out just fine, even if I do say so myself.

His character didn't even get around to raping anyways. His diseased member melted off. If this were a Mike Tyson or Axel Rose figure, glorifying their "respect" for women, then that'd be a reason to get all uppity.

I dont know what the big deal is......there are ample slasher film icons like Jason ,freddy or Leather face in plastic action figure form ....even real serial killer action figures and a serial killer group on this site.....sometimes I think sensitivity can be a REAL issue to people who cannot see their own morbid fascinations.......the fact that you saw the film goes against complaining about the figure.....

Agreed and why are there no other dolls? Weren't there MAJOR roles in that film!? (maybe there are other dolls, just not sold on that site?)

To be fair the character is only called 'Rapist Number One' In the flick there is no actual rape. Furhtermore, the figure isn't considered a play thing by the manufactures, as much as it is a reproduction based a specfic character pose... in this case not a raping pose. No one is consenting to rape by producing a figure in the characters 'likeness' This is in the same vain of that as buying a leatherface 'character' doesn't condon the butchering of teens.

I take rape to be a serious matter, unlike this 'news worthy' piece.

So...does that mean that the male to male rape scene in Pulp Fiction was okay? It sounds like you're trying to put down the scene in Planet Terror as opposed to the toy.

Rape jokes are really funny. So are dead baby jokes. So are "I (plane) NY" t-shirts. So are Jew jokes. Everything that is offensive is also incredibly funny. If we can laugh at something, we can shed our fear of it, and we can be more productive in fighting it.

Now that I think about it, anytime there's a rapist in a Tarentino (Pulp Fiction, Natural Born Killers, Kill Bill, Planet Terror) project, he tends to die a pretty horrible death. And the women have almost always been stronger than a fucking diamond.

He probably doesn't think rapists are cool, so much as rapists getting maimed is cool.

Anybody who buys the toy and is then inspired to rape is obviously not mature enough to play with action figures and to point the finger at Q.T. is rediculous.
