I'm lost

It just gets better and better:

"Girls Gone Wild" bad boy Joe Francis has allegedly been found with pills in his Florida jail cell -- and the reason he got caught is because he allegedly tried to bribe a guard for a bottle of water with a $100 bill on Wednesday night.

Even better is the suspicion that the president of the film company that produces GGW is the one who smuggled in the pills.

Update -- now he also appears to be under indictment for tax evasion.

You almost want to feel sorry for the guy, who is obviously incredibly fucked up, but . . . nope. Haven't got it in me.

Bitch_PhD loves a good train wreck when it's well-deserved.

. . . authoritites [sic] searched Francis and found at least three different types of pills -- anti-anxiety meds Aprazolam and Lorazepam, as well as the sleeping med Lunesta.

Are these recreational?

Yes - alprazolam is better known in the States as Xanax (Zanny-bars) and lorazepam as Ativan; they're both benzodiazepines (tranquilizers related chemically to diazepam [Valium]).

Lunesta's a sleep aid comparatively new that is not in the same class as the others, and the jury's still out on its recreational properties. I've heard nothing except that people fall asleep pretty quickly after taking it, which is its purpose.

If I were in jail, I'd want to sleep through it.

At the risk of being taken too seriously, I almost wish they'd MAKE him take them.

ALL of them.

I don't totally mean that, but really . . .

. . . Can't he find adult women? He's got the bucks.

Lorazepam is typically abused more than Alprazolam, but they're both benzodiazepines and have the potential for abuse. Basically he seems to be taking a great deal of anti-anxiety medication.

Edited: SocietysPliers beat me to it.

I also enjoy the fact that the Feds are looking at him for tax evasion to the tune of about $20 million.

Joe is a smarmy, sweaty ballsack of a man. I hope he goes down.

This country hates it some tax evasion. He'll get more jail time for that than for any underage action.

I have a couple of friends that have used Alprazolam and Lunesta recreationally. The description they gave of the effect was simply being able to relax and having no memory of the time.

I'm guessing that's recreational for a certain personality type.

It sure is usually a hell of a lot easier to prove. They KNOW the IRS didn't drunkenly sign the wrong consent form.

it don't matter if they are or not. When your in the clink they search you and take anything that can potentially hurt you away from you.

And by everything i mean everything. Shoe laces, ear rings and tongue studs (evidently you can stab yourself in your jugular with a tongue stud, it sounded like a real quick death to me). He was probably searched given a jump suit to wear and shouldn't have any contraband on his persons.

All medication is regulated by the corrections officer, you don't even get to have aspirin.

Ole Joe is probably detoxing like an SOB, sweats and all.

And here, alprazolam is abused WY more than lorazepam. The 2mg Xanax bars have killed more than a few partiers and are proving a big problem among kids. Also, a lot of teens and preteens are waking up after taking large doses and having no memory of the previous night. Xanax is way too poplular around here.

Me, I don't like it - I was prescribed a low dosage when I washaving troubvle sleeping atnight after a traumatic event and I took it once. It's now 5 years expired, so I should probaly unlock it and flush it.

this is most likely the problem. he's not sneaking pills in for fun...he's sneaking them in because he's addicted...most likely to very large amounts. not sure why he can't work something out with the jail (you could easily die if you go cold turkey.)
