Single malt scotches of every kind -- I don't think I have yet had one I didn't like. Macallan's and the Islay malts are my favorites, and I drink Glenlivet on a regular basis.

I like good wine, although I am hardly a snob about it. I prefer hearty reds. I am also partial to mead. My favorite producer is a grey market producer called Griffin. All the commercial ones I've had were ass.

I prefer cider to beer most of the time, and my favorite cider is Wyder's, especially their rasberry and pear flavors.

Green chartreuse (and just about any drink containing it) is as far as I go with the hard stuff...

I'm more picky about beer and ale. I looooooove snakebite (+ black, or not if no blackcurrant juice is available), Theakson's Old Peculiar ale, Spaten lager, White Diamond cider, Newcastle brown ale, Warsteiner lager, and Molson Dry lager (which is *really* difficult to find outside of Canada, in my experience).

Oddly enough, though, I can't stand the taste of Guiness. I think that makes me a heretic.

So, WaTed, when are you going to invite me over for dinner?
I'll bring some Krug to get us started, and some Yquem to finish with.
I'm also partial to Dogfish Head Midas Touch if you're talking beer, and Noah's Mill bourbon.

Whenever you're in the neighbourhood mate!
But it'd better be 1990 Krug and '82 Chateau d'Yquem...I'm an alcohol snob... biggrin

I have two questions here:

What's the difference between the green and the yellow? A friend of mine claims chartreuse separates the men from the boys, but it really isn't as intense as, say, straight absinthe.

[…] Spaten lager
[…]Warsteiner lager

Is there something peculiar about these two, like you have to drink them with a slice of lemon, or at a certain temperature? I've bought cases of both and later thought, well, that's $2X USD spent unwisely. Warsteiner seems like the Bud of German beers to me, but it's popular even at my local biergarten, so there must be something good about it that I'm missing.

Green is 110 proof, yellow is 80 proof. Apart from the colour, there isn't much else to differentiate them. Yellow has a slightly milder, slightly sweeter flavour than green, and it's usually sipped straight as opposed to mixed with other stuff. You can generally do a lot more, as far as mixers go, with the green stuff.

Not as such, no. I just like them a lot. I usually get them on tap. Spaten, I like because it's one of the smoothest beers I've had, and Warsteiner is just a good average German brew. I always considered stuff like Beck's or Shiner Bock to be the Budweiser of Germany. Hmm. The only really distinctive thing I can think of about either of them is that they both go really well with spicy food.

*sigh* The little people are so lowbrow... 12 year old whiskey... maybe if I was living on the streets, but that'll never happen, will it? No, don't think; allow me to answer for you: no, it won't. If it's a common brand such as *chin lifts a little* Jack Daniel's and you paid alot for it... it's because they held onto the same whiskey for a little longer. Like Granda' always said; don't pay for age, pay for quality. Basil Hayden? Oh, please. Perhaps if I were living out of my Rolls. If you've heard of it, I don't drink it. If you can get it at the store, why would I waste my money on it? I'd drink only the finest 'cept I havn't earned a dime in several months. Or were it years? Thank god for Padder's foresight with my trustfund. Now excuse me; I must be off to the gala.

I am an alcohol snob. I will only drink wine from the third world or former second world - I piss on California wine. I will not drink Miller or Bud light or anything lighter than an Ale (unless it is Japanese). If it isn't dark or yeasty enough to hurt the average person it doesn't interest me.

Good whiskey. Jack and Jim are allright mixed, but are shit for straight shooting. Maker's Mark or Irish Whiskey, particularly Bushmills Malt. Good Bourbon is still my favorite though.
and red Italian wines.
but I'll drink most things....if it's cheap I'll just mix it with something. not much of a beer drinker.
