today was supposedly the last day for me to rsvp for my class reunion. i can still call the person setting the whole thing up, but i still can't decide whether or not i want to go. my best friend lives in san diego and can't make it. there's no one else going with whom i really want to spend time. most of the people i would be interested in hanging out with, i already do.

so, i pose the question to the board.

what would you do?

p.s. our 5-year reunion sucked.

Everyone you still care about is in your life anyway? Fuck it. Go to the 25th, maybe the 50th, then have the good taste and common courtesy to die. That's my plan, anyway.

Ugh. I got my notice, too. If I still lived at home, I'd cough up the $70 just to go get fucked up and cause a ruckus. But as it is it would cost me a grand by the time I took a week off work, flew home, ect. I could have a lot more fun with the money.

yeah. fortunately for my wallet, i still live in the same general area.

i guess its not like i have to see these people for another ten years.

ive been told, however, the ten year is all about kids and careers.

my friend went to his last year, was asked if he had kids, he says no. person says, 'awww....what's wrong?'

heh.

ill probably go, if just to satisfy some morbid curiosity.

You should totally go just to sleep with the chicks you could never get in high school.

Not that I did this or am advocating this at all, but...

You'll know where the reunion will be, right, so get a big fat joint or something else that makes you giggly and silly, doesn't have to be a SUBSTANCE, mind you. Anyway, take this with you, borrow a car with tinted windows, park in the parking lot where everyone else is going to park their cars, sit crouched in the backseat so no one sees you, and watch each person as they get out of their cars.

One by one. Remember excruciating details about them, why you liked or didn't like them back then, whatever. And then just giggle and point. No one should be able to see you, and you'll be able to relive your high school stuff on your own terms, and not have to go through the forced niceties and bs required to actually attend the reunion itself. miao!!

I wouldn't go, just for fear of being bullied all over again by those who haven't worked out the whole "growing up" thing.

ok, i cut the check and it's ready to mail. i'm gonna go.

there are worse ways to spend a few hours on a saturday night. at least there's gonna be a bar.

and, i wont have to worry about being hunted down by contract killers and government spooks or anything.

that reminds me- i need to watch grosse pointe blank sometime before the day arrives. that oughtta set a mood.

Definitely go.

I blew off my five year - I was coming out of a bad breakup at the time - but I went to both my 10 and my 15 and had a blast both times.

I, too, still hang out with and see a bunch of people from high school. But it's still really cool to get to interact with people who you haven't seen in forever.

You should definitely go ... if it sucks, you eat the supplied dinner, abuse the open bar, and sneak out early.

i didn't goto mine. i didn't goto any school functions when i was in school, why start now? besides, it's more fun to ask people that went how it was, 'cause they all say it kinda sucked and you can tell them you couldn't make it because you had better things todo. biggrin

I've always been of the opinion.. you should go to your grad (no matter how fucking shitty it may be, as mine was) just as its a mass cultural communal thing. it's also the most pathetic and empty thing i've been to in my life. ugh.

anyways.. what I was trying to get at is I've always been of the opinion you should go to your grad, but not to your high school reunion. (especially if like as in my case everyone hated you in high school and you didn't really like them very much either)

either we didn't have a 5 year or i wasn't invited....but for the 10 year I will be attending....seeing how only 3 of us didn't end up as townies I am fascinated by the whole thing.....lately one of the only people i keep in contact got out too and we both end up hearing rumors about each other....and the fact that small town gossip reachs us who are so out of the loop is so comical to us...so me and him will be attending and making a major rukas and we will make it a blast and a half.....if they invite us.....they are sorta afraid now that we've been citified...

Of course last time i was at my parentage's i ran into someone i graduated with and asked her if her husband was her dad...oh yeah one more person to hate me later

I love Grosse Pointe Blank.

Hi. I'm, uh, I'm a pet psychiatrist. I sell couch insurance. Mm-hmm, and I -- and I test-market positive thinking. I lead a weekend men's group, we specialize in ritual killings. Yeah, you look great! God, yeah! Hi, how are you? Hi, how are you? Hi, I'm Martin Blank, you remember me? I'm not married, I don't have any kids, and I'd blow your head off if someone paid me enough.

Well...it's been 2 years now...so 5 years is approaching soon I guess...

But no...I really have no desire to go. I hated my high school. And the people I went to high school with. Most of them at least. And the ones that I did like I see already. So I have no reason to go back.

Unless you are rich and wanna show off or have an unrequited crush on someone from high school that you think might be there, I'd say take a pass.
