Jane's Addiction has been back on tour for the last few years but without any new material. That's all changing when they hit the road with an all new Lollapalooza. At the end of July we get a brand new Jane's Addiction studio album called Strays. Produced by the legendary Bob Ezrin who was behind Pink Floyd's The Wall and Alice Cooper's School's Out. Of course they also have a new bass player as usual, Chris Chaney, but this time it's an old collaborator of their drummer Stephen Perkins.

I've been listening to the new Album for a month now, it's been around one the Net. "True Nature" rocks but the rest of the album is either OK or just bad. I was like the biggest Jane's fan back in the mid 90's (I caught up on their music real late). Now I'm just disapointed. Saw them live in Toronto 2 years ago - best show I ever went to.

ok that was just classic! they weren't interested because they were into the drug thing so that meant he got all the girls biggrin biggrin biggrin biggrin i'm still laughing about that one.

and yay for punk girls!!!! we rule!!! if the drummer of jane's addiction says so~it has to be true. i can't wait to get the new album..didn't even know it was coming out. and now that i heard that a perfect circle is going to be there besides jane's and the distillers i'm crying even more now that i can't afford to go. oh well i did swear that after the 1st tour that i wouldn't go to another one because i didn't think they could ever put on another one that could ever get better than that. so i guess it just means i'm staying true to my promise.

and when he was talking about body count it brought back memories of when out of the blue ice-t grabbed me by the face aid something about me being beautiful and frenched me while i was trying to tell him that i liked his new band. eeek i was so scared that his gangster girlfriend was going to come out of nowhere and kick my ass and i didn't even ask for him to kiss me.

oh man that first tour was the best and i don't see how they can ever top it. but i hope for your sakes that they try and recapture the pure magic of that day cause i had a blast.

i love that it is your new schtick to toss in "what is your favourite kind of girl," like you're asking for a choice of candy.

janes addiction were my favourite band from age 13 throughout most of my teenage years. i am glad to see an interview with them on SG and glad to know they're putting out a new album. i hope it is not crap.

i really love jane's. the first transcendental rockshow experience i ever had was during "3 days" at the first lollapalooza in phx in 1991. i was wandering around, heatstroked out, and perry was dancing around like some sort of rattlesnake jesus. totally amazing. then dave threw his guitar at him or something. ah, the good old days.

i'm really glad to see that perkins got some interview time. usually it's either perry or dave in the chair. good questions, too - especially when the answers veered into tangents. i never thought about the benefits of being in a band with junkies - eg, they're too trashed to fuck the groupies. heh.

First half of the album is wicked but the rest needs spreading out a bit. I miss tunes like Then She Did and obviously 3 Days.
It kind of becomes a bit of a pop album. Fast and instant, very hectic, which ain't a bad thing. Just different.
