Golly, I wonder why... actually, my calculus class in high school required you to have a graphing calculator but I refused to give in. I just leached off the guy next to me. That was satisfying. I liked my calc teacher, but I sure pissed him off a lot.
Unless you do a lot of graphing work in class, you're better off getting a freeware program on your computer than buying a graphing calculator. I use GraphCalc, which I got for free off Znet.com or somewhere. It's twice as easy to use, ten times as easy to read, and more powerful too. It was more than enough for Calc 1 so I'm sure it would work for Algebra.
