Heh, I guess I *really* suck then!

I worked at the ren faire in Virginia, then followed the damn thing to Wisconsin, where I didn't work but lived on the faire grounds and dressed up in my costume and played on the faire grounds every day! It was a fucking blast, I don't care what any of you say!

I don't really get into the whole thing, but it's fun to go in the spring and be silly.
Plus, the appreciation for curvy women abounds and I just don't get enough of that in my everyday life, you know?
And yeah, it's sexy when guys blow fire and stuff.

You make it. Some uppity-up liquor stores will sell it, but ick. We've been making it for over ten years, and we have it perfected. It's not sugary or overly sweet like Mr. Rain on Parades said. It tastes like honey wine.

Fairs are fun. Grumpy people complain about other people's fun.

Two things I try like hell to NOT partake in:

-Ren Faire
-"Rocky Horror Picture Show " screenings

Too many bad memories of cheating girlfriends, friends becoming junkies, and really, really annoying catchphrases... mad

I'm in agreement, Mr. Plasticfangs.

Or, to quote that rapper dude whose name I can't remember, "Word."

Hahaha! I think that was Young MC, but don't quote me on that... smile

It's all about dressing up as aliens, cavemen, and characters from obscure television series and crashing the scene. Getting ye olde faire participants to curse at you is quite fun and something of a challenge.

It's escape isim. You get to put aside your problems for a time, and live a life full of someone elses problems. Role playing/ storytelling these are things humans have done aslong as they have spooken. It gives us a way to relate to things beyond us. It's almost spiritual and it's the ultimate in healthy. Everyone wants to be someone else at one time or another, and thats only natural. It's kind of a shame so many people thumb thier noses at it. As far as the SCA goes...they kinda take it to a place I wouldn't want to go. They do something closer to historical reanactment then actual role play. Which is to say some of these people go way above and beyond the call of duty. A pal of mine did sca and wore deodarant and was forced to spend the day in the stocks for it. He had a cramp in his neck for like a week. And he felt it was a learning experience.

Well for me, the past is really vivid, so much so that I'm dedicating my life to it (history student here). Why? We have a fascination with what is old, what is different from us, and frankly, I think a lot of people get suckered into the fantasy of the whole thing. I don't think most people would really be interested in a real renaissance or medieval fair, they're interested in a modern fantasy view of it.

Meh, who knows. I would enjoy it, but that's just me. I'm also a civil war reenactor...
