I am reading this amazing book for the second time called Ready, Okay! by Adam Cadre
I had never heard of this guy before and picked it up because the jacket cover looked good; none of my friends have heard of him either.

Favorite obscure books anyone?

You know, I reserved that book from the library because I am such a huge fan of his interactive fiction. Didn't care much for the book, though.

But if you do decide to try one of his games, a good starting point is 9:05.

The Monkey Wrench Gang is by Edward Abbey.

I've mentioned that book to several people who sort of got pained looks on their faces, because they heard that it's the book that inspired Earth First!, and thus they think it's going to be some sort of screed about the environment, which it is, in part, but it's also incredibly funny and fun to read.

Besides, you never know when you'll need to know how to sabotage a bulldozer. tongue

Three Remarkable Women by Balyoz. out of print but glorious if you can find it. (it's about three women philosophers from the turn of the last century: Blavatsky, Roerich and Bailey. fascinating.)

Aw yeah.

It came seventeen years ago; and to this day, it has shown no intention of going away.

I'm not sure how obscure it is, and it's really a series of books, but when I was younger, my favorite books were the Last Legionary series by Douglass Hill.
