i've read this about three times. every time i think you take something different away, and there are still so many different ways to read the book - the material can sit differently in your head every time.

You'll care only about the darkness and you'll watch it for hours, for days, maybe even for years

I have owned three copies of this book. I currently own none. I keep lending it out and never getting it back. Should have learned my lesson by now, don't you think? Still, I'll own a fourth copy, and I'll lend it out after reading it again. It will disappear as certainly as Holloway. Unfortunately, I cannot avoid introducing this monster to anyone who has not yet read it. So I will no doubt continue to lend it out and lose it. For me, it has been a part of the book's charm.

I bought this book a month ago, and it has not left my sight since. I'm currently on my third trip through the House

I bought this book sometime in thefall and fell in love with it. Deep deep love.I've always been a readerbut this book completely blew me awy, my favorite part beingthe letters that Truant's mother wrote to him, and the spiral staircase that mimiced the golden rectangle..The struck passages were in red I think because of the violent connotations. The word struck has connections to violence as does the color red, and as do many of the struck passages.

I read House of Leaves 3 years ago in my first (very tiny) apartment I didn't leave the place for the whole weekend and just read the whole thing cover to cover on my bed while eating stoned wheat things and cheese.

It put the fear into me.

I was literally numbed for two days after reading this book, I couldn't think, I was afraid. It was just rumbling around in my head like some kind of invisible monster.

Not the best book I've ever read.. but easily the one that had the most visceral impact on me at the time.

one of the best books I have EVER read.
it actually put me into a slightly psychotic state.

I never did find the Poe CD that goes with it, didn't know about it until after I had already read the book, and I can't read it again for a while.

it's in my top 5 of all time...right up there with Vurt and Desolation Angels.
