Had to run some errands this morning so i ended up at crap ass larchmont to do some banking and of course stopped in the starbucks and holy crap I wish i had the camera because this lady was out of control ugly ( i drew this picture to kind of give you the idea ) i noticed her right when i walked in. She was sitting at this table with her friends who where all dressed up like they were rich and wanted you to know it but not her, she had on one of those sweat pants / jacket set things that suck so bad, but she was either a few months pregnant or a few years fat cuz she had this gut hanging out from the WAY TOO DAMN tight t-shirt which in either case is not something anyone outside of her house needed to see.

*shudder*

Anyway she's got that whole thing going on and it looks like she hasn't washed or brushed her hair in weeks and has these really big and dumb glasses on. Whatever, enough with the physical description, she was ugly and that's all you need to know. So I'm in the place all of 15 seconds before she gets up from her table and starts yelling at the guy behind the counter, and in this god awful voice that I could never explain via the written word...

hahaha..

at first i was going to be really annoyed with you. because some of those people are overweight, but they're really nice and they're trying really hard to look nice. so if you were making fun of her just for her looks, that would suck.

but she sounds like a horrific bitch. wow. i don't understand how people like that exist. they seem like caricatures of themselves or something.

good for you for saying something to her.

i think your complaint might be better received if you didn't bash fat people while you were at it.

I don't think I was bashing fat people, everything in there is a statement of fact. I never said there was anything wrong with having a gut, i said having a teeny t-shirt on that doesn't fit so your gut is hanging out is wrong. if anything I'm bashing her fashion sense.

I agree with Olivia, maybe you should have left out the superfluous half page bit about how fat and ugly she was and just focused on her being mean.

Wow... I just read the rest of the story, out of curiousity. What a fucking bitch. You're a lot more tolerant that I am, though- I've been stuck in too many shitty jobs to tolerate that kind of behavior when I don't have to.

Yeah... I more or less agree with everyone else on here - she was a total bitch, but maybe you should have focused on that alone, rather than shooting her down first over her appearance. That just makes you sound petty, and it almost kept me from reading the rest of what you had to say.

OMG..I work at starbucks and some customers are just real jerks, but i've never had an experience like that in my time working there. CRAZY!

My bad expereince witha customer though happened like this. There's this bitch at this one store i used to work in who we called "Crazy Red-Headed Frappucino Lady" because she was crazy, red-headed and ordered only frappucinos.

The first time i saw her, she immediately tooka disliking to me despite my curteous manner and helpfulness. She somehow thought i was a bad employee because i din't know her drink like everybody else in the store despite the fact it was the first time i'd ever seen her.

For some ungodly reason she made it her personal mission to talk shit about me behind my back. She would refuse to let me wait on her or let me make her her drinks. She even told the manger that i had called her a bitch to her face (which i never did...though she is a bitch and all of the workeres there calle dher one when she wasn't around.)

She absolutely loved some employees there and would even buy them things from the store. We decided that we didn't know what was worse...her liking you or her disliking you cause she was totally weird.

The weirdest incident involving her was when there was this new guy (Jake) at the store who was about 6'4" or so and she commented to him that it was neat finally seeing someone taller than this other guy Benny.Jake turned to me and, lookiing up, remarked: "Well Dan is pretty tall" and she completely ignored the comment and kept going on like i wasn't even there. Totally fucked up.

Another douchebag insulted me because he was waiting at the wrong register for a few minutes while we were busy and i didn't see him.
Douchebag: "Hey you...I've been waiting here forever trying to buy this coffee and you've been ignoring me"
Me: "I didn't see you sir, i'm sorry...how can i help you?"
Douchebag: "What are you and idiot? Blind?"--Meanwhile he's the only numbnuts in the store who didn't clearly see that i was using the only register opened at the store and he should have went towards me, rather than waiting like a schmuck at a register that no one was operating.
Me: in a sweet manner "Well i must be"

It pretty much ended soon after that and if my distric manager wasn't in the store i would have said something quite insulting i'm sure....Why do people have to be such dickheads all the time? We try to be as nice and helpful as possible, but still, the manner in which some people talk down to us or are just plain rude is totally fucked up. don't get it.

Easy. For some reason, people equate income with intelligence. I can't tell you how many people looked at me (when I was delivering pizzas) and said, "Shouldn't you be somewhere better than this? This is such a dead-end job."

I'd always reply with a sweet smile and say, "It's paying for my degree."

As much as I'd like to agree with everyone that's said Sixspace shouldn't've made an issue of this woman's appearance and size, the sad fact of the matter is those things are most likely the reason for her attitude and behaviour.
When I worked at the video store, some of the customers were okay, most were just losers and wastes of space, but the one's that gave us the most grief were...
Fat, ugly women...
I'm not saying fat people are ugly, infact I know a few girls who are large, but still extremely attractive, but back to the point...
People like her are generally so unhappy about their lives, so miserable and disgusted with themselves, the only pleasure they get is by belittling and ridiculing people that are not in a position to properly defend themselves (ie shopworkers)
The only way to deal with people like that is to fight back. Doing phone work has proved that to me. People phone up all whingy and pissed off, cussing The Company, me and everyone under the sun, but the solution is easy. Say:
"Don't talk to me like that" as if you are speaking to a 5 yr old, and believe me, they will shut the fuck up. Admitedly, it's easier over the phone, where they can't talk to a manger unless I decide to transfer them, than it is face-to-face in a store, but the principle is the same. Once they realize they can't intimidate you, and you're not impressed with their attitude, they shut up and revert to the pathetic excuses for people they really are.
People like that woman just need to be told.

My favourite way to deal with a rude customer was to remain sweet and keep smiling. They'd get So Bloody Irritated that I wasn't getting upset that I'd get more amused at how flustered they'd become, which led to more smiling and a perky voice.

Before I was even made a manager, my manager would often pass rude customers onto me.

I'm not saying people should be rude to such people, that really will get you in trouble with a manager, but politely and firmly standing up for yourself and letting someone know they can't treat you like dirt, just because you a providing them with a service, soon gets the message across, and then they are putty in your hands wink
