Before last summer, I was hard into learning how to do these things, and I did quite well I think. I was just wondering if there were many more out here who have done any of those.
I have a new fire set comming sometime soon. Im hella excited. Ill post some action shots, hell, maybe a video.
used to be a part-time/amateur magician I did alot of effects with fire and flash paper/cotton/etc. Loved it, never learned to much about the fire spinning or twirling but definately look into the link you posted thanks.
make a practice set of poi. The ones on the website I posted above seem likealot of work. I did my own in a diffrent way. Eventually I bought a pair off the site that had UV Tails on them. Those dont hurt much at all.
ticktock said: I breathe fire once in awhile... but every time I've tried poi (unlit, thankfully), I've hit myself in the head. A lot.
That's how you learn. I made a practice set from balled up newspaper wrapped in kitchen garbage bags (trimmed, of course). Once I got the rope length adjusted and practiced until I stopped bonking my head, I got a real set.
Poi is tricky. You're twirling and bonking and twirling and bonking, and then SNAP! you have it. It doesn't really have a transition. It just hits some day. (No pun intended).
I want to learn too. and yeah, I hear about www.homeofpoi.com too.
It has a 'friend search' on it. You can look for other fire-spinners according to geographic location. I was actually able to find some guys right here in Stockholm, Sweden. But I just haven't gotten round to contacting any of them. Life is hectic right now.
