What is the best way to get your hair dark black by dying it if you currently have brown hair.?

my hair is so dark brown it's nearly black....but i like that fakely black look and everything i tried would just fade to dark brown in a weeks time....

so i tried every dye on the market thinking oh this is pricey it'll work..but i was all wrong...Revelon's Colorsilk (it's 2 something at walmart)..did it...it gave me a nice unnatural black that sticks around for longer than most dyes...

my hair was brown before i dyed it black, and all i needed was normal hair dye. i think you can dye nay hair colour black without the need to bleech it or take any special steps. i use clairol (sp?) nice and easy, it's cheap and it lasts longer than other brands i've tried.

i have naturally blonde hair and i dye mine black, right now i do it "soft black" tho for work, but i use to really like the jet black look. if youre just doing it yourself feria starry night is a very cool jet black colour, and ive never had my black fade on me. i guess possibly if it does maybe youre not using permanent. i have to redo mine every 3 weeks or so, so i dont look like im balding.

and no you dont need to bleach it or do anything before going black. itll just make then ends of your hair very angry. use a tint brush on the roots.

I use Clarol Nice 'n Easy, either the Natural Black or Blue Black. I really like it, and I naturally have brown hair, but whether it looks good or not is really everyone else's opinion...

just a word of warning, i have really dark brown hair naturally, and i dyed it balck with clairol's blue-black... and for the next ten months, i was shedding like a big old irish setter. dyed black.
but my hair looked pretty bad-ass, i guess you should just condition alot or something.

ihave been dying my hair black for years. The best product i have ever used was FERIA. Clariol is cheap and damages your hair. Feria IS the way to go.

I just tried the Garnier Lumia blue-black, and it's really shiny even on dreads.

Let Mara do it. Thats what I did, and it looks good. Course she was considering dying it pink against my will.

I use Herbatint 1N.. not necessarily because it's the best, but because I'm very allergic to everything else. whatever

I'm naturally blonde.. this dye seems to give me a very natural looking black, but I suppose you could judge for yourself in my pictures. =)

Mine's now black with L'Oreal Feria Black Leather. I like it - It covered up all my pink, brown, and purple evenly, and bleached out pretty well to add bright colours.

i have very light brown/dark blonde hair with natural highlights. i died my hair black for two years...and i wanted the jet black look. in my case, the best way was to have it professionally done. that's what i recommend...the over the counter stuff is never quite as good.

i am not trying to brag, but someone even thought i was italian, because my black hair looked so authentic. i know you don't know what i look like, but let me tell you...i am so far from italian looking with my normal hair color, it's not even funny.

Also check out this thread.

Hydrience Black Pearl is my personal recommendation, although there are lots of other goodies out there.

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out smile
