I just got my first one about a week ago also(good friday, easter weekend). I felt the same way as you before and after, Was nervous going in, after it was done i was ready for another one.

Got mine on the forearm too, inner forearm here is a pic.

it is my mother's initials, the date she was born and when she passed away.

If anyone can maybe now give their experiences on the aftercare and healing experiences, what to expect, what isn't normal?

I offered to revamp Infinity's aftercare sheet, and Amanda graciously said yes; so here's what I wrote (pardon the all-caps!):

INFINITY TATTOO

AFTERCARE SHEET

Thank you for choosing INFINITY TATTOO for your tattoo needs. We performed your tattoo in the cleanest and most professional manner possible to insure a quality piece of work that you will be happy with for as long as you bless this Earth.

Aftercare is a very important part of receiving your TATTOO. Please read and follow these instructions, and you and your TATTOO will be happier for it.

1. LEAVE YOUR BANDAGE ON FOR 24 HOURS, IF POSSIBLE. THIS INSURES A PROPER HEALING TIME. IF IT IS NOT POSSIBLE OR PRACTICAL FOR YOU TO LEAVE IT ON FOR THIS LENGTH OF TIME, OVERNIGHT SHOULD BE FINE (TRY TO SHOOT FOR AT LEAST 12 HOURS).

2. WHEN (CAREFULLY!) REMOVING THE BANDAGE, YOU MAY FEEL IT CATCHING ON THE NEW TATTOO. IF THIS OCCURS, REMOVE BANDAGE UNDER RUNNING WATER (AS HOT AS YOU CAN STAND IT).

3. WASH THE TATTOO WITH MILD SOAP, USING CLEAN HANDS, NOT A WASHCLOTH. AFTER THE TATTOO IS CLEAN, PAT DRY WITH A CLEAN TOWEL OR, BETTER YET, A PAPER TOWEL.

4. DO NOT REBANDAGE YOUR TATTOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. KEEP YOUR TATTOO CLEAN, DRY AND EXPOSED TO THE AIR (BUT NOT THE SUN!) AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE THIS FIRST DAY. ON THE MORNING OF THE SECOND DAY AFTER RECEIVING YOUR TATTOO, WASH GENTLY AS USUAL AND THEN APPLY A THIN LAYER OF AN UNSCENTED LOTION (SUCH AS LUBRIDERM OR CUREL). APPLY LOTION THUSLY 3 OR 4 TIMES A DAY (ALWAYS WITH CLEAN HANDS) UNTIL YOUR TATTOO IS HEALED (2 TO 3 WEEKS, AT LEAST), TAKING CARE NOT TO USE TOO MUCH (OR TOO LITTLE) LOTION. TREAT YOUR NEW TATTOO AS A MINOR BURN OR SCRAPE.

6. YOUR TATTOO WILL SOON START PEELING, AND THE TEMPTATION TO SCRATCH AND PICK WILL BE GREAT. DON'T DO IT!!! STICK WITH THE ABOVE REGIMEN, AND YOUR TATTOO WILL HEAL BEAUTIFULLY. TAKE CARE NOT TO SOAK YOUR TATTOO IN THE BATHTUB OR EXPOSE TO SUNLIGHT UNTIL HEALED, AND MAKE SURE ANY CLOTHING THAT MIGHT TOUCH IT IS LOOSE AND SOFT.

7. AFTER YOUR TATTOO IS HEALED, ALWAYS PROTECT IT WHEN YOU ARE OUT IN THE SUN BY WEARING SUNSCREEN (AT LEAST SPF 30; SPF 45 IS EVEN BETTER).

Congratulations on busting your tattoo cherry! (ah, sweet memories...) Can't wait to see pics! And yes, it IS addictive!! biggrin

I was told by my artist, who has been doing tats for 10 years, the following.

-keep it bandaged for 2 hours, then soak off the bandage if it sticks.
-wash with antibacterial soap
-then put on lotion, such as lubridurm or vasiline intensive care.
-dont let your tattoo dry out
-dont use neosporin or any shit like that
