When I was talking to Rob Zombie never once did he growl "Yeah". I wish he did because then I could put it on my answering machine. But hey we had better things to talk about like good pornography, Pee-wee Herman and the release of his horror film House of 1000 Corpses.

Now House is finally coming out into the theaters by Lion's Gate Films after two studios decided not to put it out, Universal and MGM. But it's such a cool flick. I think of it as a Texas Chainsaw Massacre 1980's style with better...

Today.

Don't tell me you missed all the posts about the DINNER & A MOVIE NIGHT, Nala. About 50 of us are going to see this movie tomorrow night.

And Sean's right, Rob's a cool dude. VERY cool. And Sherri is a stone FOX.

Cool interview...
Say the movie too... Admittingly though I think I went into the movie with too high of expectations (I mean, come on it's Rob Zombie, he's done some awesome stuff.), because it wasn't as good as I thought it was going to be. Not nearly as much gore as I thought there would be and some other stuff (I guess the reason why has been explained in the interview). Don't get me wrong though, it is still by far one of the best horror movies I've seen in a very long while and did have lots of really really really cool shit to it. I'm going to go see it again so I'm curious to see what it'll be like the second time around. I bet the DVD will have ALL the blood guts and gore. :-)

Rob's one of my idols, and always will be. But i've got to say that he's such an effing dork!! Downright lovable, that guy.

The timing of the article is just about perfect... DRE did a great job, and RZ was his usual personable and cool self. It's kind of a shame that other cities are doing the dinner & movie action for this flick - even if you aren't a fan of schlock horror movies it's destined to be a good time. :monkey:

I too went into the flick with rather high expectations. Sadly, I'm going to have to be the party pooper and say I was fairly let down. A big problem I had with it was that it was too directly derivative of Texas Chainsaw Massacre. That, and there wasn't really much of a story or plot.

Don't get me wrong, there was a lot I liked about it. The acting was pretty solid all around, and the characters were fantastic! However, I would have wanted to see a little more of each of them. Especially Captain Spaulding! I was surprised how little of the film he's in.

By the way...did anyone else happen to notice that several of the names used in the movie are references to characters Groucho Marx has portrayed? A reference only a true dork like myself would get, but I thought it was pretty cool. The nod towards A Clockwork Orange (the mask during the dinner scene) was neat, too.

Anyway, to sum it up, I loved the characters, but thought that a HELL of a lot more could have been done with them.

Man, I totally noticed the whole A Clockwork Orange thing! I looked to my boyfriend and nudged him and he said "Yeah, I know". We are both fanatical about Orange...!!
I'd have to say I was a bit disappointed as well. Don't get me wrong, RZ is GREAT but, well, it was kinda boring. And definitely too much like TCM. (Did anyone else think the house in House was the same as the one used in TCM???)
I thought in some aspects the movie was great, location, actors, shots, color, creativity. But, the script and gore was totally lacking. It needed something to kinda take it another step up, to seperate itself from all the other horror flicks out there.
Does anyone agree?

In some respects, I agree with the last comment...it needed just a
little something to push it beyond the standard horror film. In any
event, I did think it was fantastic, and after listening to some Rob/White
Zombie music a little while ago, I can see where he got the ideas for the
film. I can't wait to see his next one.

It's interesting he states he's more interested in his movie career than his music career. Musically, Zombie is good, but he's better as a Director. I wish there was a sequel to this interview as I liked "The Devil's Rejects" better than "House."

Awesome interview.
