It depends on the corset. Some, like the ones for sexy lingerie purposes, use plastic boning, which doesn't squeeze, lift, and shape. It's more like a standard bra.

Real corsets (like Al's) are meant to shape and lift and have lots of metal boning, which holds very well and is a lot more comfortable, in my opinion.
