Thought he story is based on the true story of the talented pianist Wladyslaw Szpilman [played by Adrien Brody], a Polish Jew, who avoided being deported to a Nazi death camp during World War II by hiding in the ruins of Warsaw. it might as well be about Polanski himself who avoided the Nazis by the use of a wax foreskin.
