Lock up your daughters and your stash -- Ewan McGregor has agreed to step back into the tattered sneakers of heroin chic poster boy Renton in Porno, the long awaited sequel to 1996's Trainspotting.

Like Trainspotting, the Porno script will be based on author Irvine Welsh's book of the same name. So what's the hold up? Well, it seems Boyle is intent on waiting until the cast is middle-aged before starting production.

He said,

According to his IMDB profile, McGregor is only 36 so it seems fans are going to have to wait a bit longer for the follow-up to hit the silver screen.

Sick Boy is moreso the protagonist of Porno than Rents, anyway.

This makes my life so much better. Welsh's writing can be hit and miss, but I think these two are some of his better.

I tried to read it but the accents were just too difficult for my little brain. Look forward to the movie.

I liked Porno a lot. I don't think they'd need to wait until the actors were in their 40s, though... they seemed like they were in their 30s in the book.

this is weird becouse the porno story was mentioned weeks ago and shorty after i thought ewan said he wouldnt do it since he was still angry with boyle.after rereading this article and reading the link i saw it was mentioned in there as well...

Porno's a great book... I'm ecstatic over the film being made.

The characters were in their middle to late thirties though. Not their forties.

When I read 'Porno' I couldn't help but feel that large parts of it are impossible to film, not because of the skin but because of how over-the-top the story as a whole is . If anyone can do it though, it's Boyle. The best parts of 'Porno' are of Spud and some of the more minor (underutilized) characters from Trainspotting which should make it a great companion piece to the first film.
