In fairness, his grandiosity sounds to me like he's manic or something. But that doesn't mean he's not a douchebag.

I hate people who take advantage of others, and he's made quite the living off of doing just that. So I hope he gets nailed.

I don't think that this is the proper place to say such things. I would be more specific, but I might lose the membership I paid for here. Oh well...

I do think there is a large difference in the way GGW takes advantage of women, and the way SG takes advantage of women.

GGW capitalizes on the girls that are *just* loose enough to be enticed by a t-shirt or other trinket after a few cheer beers. These girls have a high chance of regretting their actions very quickly.

SG capitalizes on the women who want to get naked for $500, or whatever reasons they have (which are almost always thought out, planned, and decided on). These women also chance regrets, but they're not likely to come for some time.

It's a fine line, but an important one, at least to me.

Whatever, he's certainly now milking the affair for publicity.

Now, having actually read the article, I believe this guy is pretty much a douche. But I will still admit that I am slightly jealous of the lifestyle that he and anyone else in similar position lives. Despite the fact that he treats women like shit, he does pander to what a vast portion of society wants to see... and what an amount of women apparently want to do, too...

And I could only fairly liken the term "exploitation" to the earlier Girls Gone Wild days. Then, a girl gets filmed on the beach or in New Orleans and she might think she'll only be in some perv's home movie collection. Nowadays, if a girl sees the GGW logo and flashes anyway, she damn well knows what she is getting into.

Unless she is way too drunk, that is.

Well, he's taking advantage of drunken girls (occasionally underage) who never see any compensation beyond a hat or a t-shirt so he can make his millions (And if that woman in the LA Times article is to be believed, get some sex of questionable consent out of them). I think that's pretty sleazy. The guy had his lawyer brag about his dick size for him. Really, he's a tool.

Yeah, occasionally disappointing stories pop up about SG, but I haven't heard anything yet that sounds anywhere near as bad as how this guy handles himself.

The GGW ad I saw on TV included the phrase "Your Wildest Dreams Come True!" Sorry, Joe & Co., my wildest dreams go way, way beyond a tape full of drunken coeds flashing their tits. Some don't even include women.

I don't see anything wrong with Girls Gone Wild. If they don't like it ... they shouldn't get their tits out. Idiots. It's like someone complaining that Suicide Girls is exploiting girls. WOW. Hm. I really don't know where to start.

Now, first, I'll admit, that I believe that a sizeable proportion of the girls who participate aren't ones I would want to see romantically, or even socially. Many probably don't regret their participation.

It seems like this whole brand is built on a point of view toward women that is, at best, disrespectful, and, at worst, violent. It seems Joe Francis is built the same way. It's the old caveman mindset that if you get a girl drunk enough, you deserve to have her do whatever the hell you want. That skirts some serious lines of whether or not actual consent was received.

That's the problem. It's not that he'll film girls who consent. It's that he seems to try to manipullate them INTO signing consent forms. Not to mention possible rape.

I don't find the guy to be a douchebag. I also don't think what he's doing is particularly wrong. I suppose ethically and morally, yeah, maybe wrong, but on the other hand.... it's their choice. The women choose to take off their tops and get on cam. Not only that, but they sign a waiver saying that GGW can put them in their movies.

If they're willing to sell their nudity so cheaply well... I don't see that as his fault.

Okay, one, he is older, and has quite a bit more power, than the girls he films. And two, sad to say, the reality is that for women, being or acting "sexy" is still a way to get a lot of attention and praise; no wonder young women will play into that. Whereas for guys, *exploiting* women is a way to get a lot of attention and praise, or at least money. If you think the two are equally douchey, you have no clue.

What makes it worse is that women who refuse to act sexy often get a lot of shit for it. So it's not even as if saying no is a neutral act.

(Of course, to be fair, often times when guys refuse to act like douches, they get a lot of shit for it, especially from the Joe Francis types.)

Eh...It's getting old blaming these young ladies actions on them being "too drunk" and "not knowing" what they are doing. GGW is big enough for them to realize, if there is a douchebag running around Cancun or New Orleans with a camera, it means, "show me your tits." They are aware enough to know that somewhere, at some point, their boobs are going to be available to the general public. And don't they make the women sign a contract?

Most of the girls aren't even on film long enough for anyone to remember their faces anyway. I think GGW videos are hilarious, myself

You have an RV that travels to local bars, goes into a bar full of drunk women, and then turns on a camera with promises of fame. It's lame fame, and usually ends up causing more problems then it's worth.

This story is only one instance of how many times he has gone to court... I hope they lock him up and throw away the key and that's the end of GGW.
