Eric Wareheim and Tim Heidecker shook up the world of Adult Swim with their divisive animated series Tom Goes to the Mayor. With the simple premise of a small town man, Tom [played by Heidecker], every week coming up with a new idea which he presents to the towns mayor [played by Wareheim] who twists it into something awful. Tom Goes to the Mayor is chock full of insane humor and guests stars like Jack Black and Sarah Silverman. The shows cult popularity has led to Tim and Erics new Adult Swim show Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!
I dun' care what special celebrity guest stars they can get. I've lost all credibility for my favorite actors' endorsement of a show now that I've seen Patrick Stewart on American dad.
Why the hell can't north america put more effort into their animation?
Ever since southpark, every Joe Ballsack with an imaging and video program on their laptop thinks they can make a crude, low brow adult comedy and go skimpy on the animation.
Are they counting on the majority of their viewers being stoned every time they watch it?
Fuck, I just saw a TV show that was done entirly in Flash.
Mind you that might be acceptable if there was any effort put into the writing, and concept.
Why do we only get one or the other?
Maybe something that isn't a desperate attempt to emulate anime, huh?

Oh how I hate both of these shows! They make me want to go on a murderous spree, well at least killing the characters on the two shows so that I will never have to turn the channel from my beloved Adult Swim again! I want more Moral Orel !!!!!!!
I actually like Tom Goes To The Mayor.
I don't consider it low-brow at all, it's very subtle and well observed. Everything about it feels awkward and it took me some time to grow to like it, but it has some real gold. Pipe Camp
As with Aqua Teen.. it took me a while to get used to Tom Goes to the Mayor. I really do think these kind of shows are about the writing, and the fact that Tim and Eric are just crazy looking guys who do amazing facial expressions.
They are really in their element with Awesome show, and the fact they're being aloud to have a lot of freedom is great for tv. I'll agree some of the first episodes of Awesome show are a bit bumpy, but I can't wait to see them space out and get completely bizarre on the next 30 episodes.
As for quality animation meets writing, that's why we have...

You know I can never understand why people are so ready to hate and judge things that are different. I guess it's a normal reaction, but it's also the kind of attitude children have towards any food that they haven't eaten before.
You do realize that right now your being like a little kid who hates everything except cheeseburgers and hot dogs.
It's all a numbers game, and the fact lots of people are making things and sharing them is both good and bad. It's the same way that people judge the quality of an audio recording by how it sounds through their computer speakers. Big stereos have gone the way of the Dodo. In turn could you say people aren't learning how to play good music and produce it well because of this? No. The same with animation, the tools of the trade have allowed creative individuals who lack some talents while excel in others the ability to also find their place. And in the process create something, that hopefully an audience will enjoy.

most people go skimpy on the animation because of the budgets they are given or can afford. they all cant be pixar because it takes 500 people 5 years to make one of their movies.
it doesnt matter what you use to tell your story, just tell your story
