So... I'm sitting in the theater, waiting to watch the new Adam Sandler movie the other day when my peaceful afternoon is interrupted by the trailer for this movie - Vacancy (click at your own risk!!).

As the trailer starts I'm thinking, "This seems pretty eerie, which is interesting considering it's starring Mr. and Mrs. Romantic Comedy, Luke WIlson and Kate Beckinsale. So I watch... and it turns crazy and by the half-way point, it has already completely scared the living shit out of me. So much so that I couldn't continue to watch the trailer. I had to look away and seriously try to find a happy place.

So here I am, a week later... it's 2:16 a.m. and I'm unable to sleep (or even lay in bed) after having a friend mention this movie to me on the phone. I've found myself completely terrified on several occasions this week as a result of briefly thinking about the trailer before bedtime. I saw it mentioned while waiting for Blades of Glory to start today and had to dive for my headphones to play some music so I woulddn't have to listen to the trailer again.

Now admittedly... I'm not a big scary movie fan. I'm a scardey cat and I'm the first to admit it. However, I'm a grown woman and I'm usually completely capable of putting such thoughts out of my mind. I've also heard from several other sources that it isn't just me. This seems to be haunting a lot of other people as well. So what gives? Why can't I get past my childish fear of a movie? What is it about this movie that has so many people I know so completely freaked out? And WHY should I have had to see this trailer while waiting for a drama and a comedy??? Shouldn't they be playing this trailer before The Hills Have Eyes #5738 and Dead Silence??

Ugh. Someone please come over and check under my bed so I can go to sleep. Crazies need not apply. tongue

Different strokes for different folks, I guess. I couldn't even watch the whole thing!!! (and I'm still too freaked to sleep).

I like the guy with the unicorns better. tongue
