Zoetica

NEWSWIRE

Los Angeles, CA

Secret Photoshop Agent and resident Fashion Icon Zoetica often has the staff at SGHQ asking, "What's Zo Wearing?" Her unique and eccentric style is a rallying call to those who suffer from mainstream malaise. Each week, she tells us how she's combined ordinary items to create her extraordinary look. Undaunted by unusual combinations, "What's Zo Wearing" is SG's answer to middle-of-the-road makeover shows.

Zo says: It's officially getting...warm. And flowery.

For someone like me, who'd love nothing more than to wear a minimum of four layers at most times, this is always a confusing and difficult time of the year. It's a time when I have to give up scarves, and carry some form of parasol in an effort to protect my skin from sinister sunshine. Since I refuse to give up my aesthetic, the layers simply have to get lighter, and, eventually, shorter. Accessories become more important - they compensate for lost layers and make my heart just a little lighter when I can't wear a favorite jacket or boots.

Along with such changes, the topic of hair inevitably surfaces. After the recent hair-centric article, I knew the time was nigh for something new. I'd been a redhead for nearly two years which is exceedingly long for me. And it's the vernal equinox, I guess. And, perhaps, I have a little problem with changing my hair. Thus, along with beginnings of spring closet-cleaning I colored my hair a shade I poetically call "blurple." This, of course, grants me the right to replenish my soon to be empty closet with items that compliment my hair.

Alas.

Lace tops: Forever 21

Metropolis-inspired necklace: gift from D

Large bracelets: 50 cents each on the streets of Amsterdam

Ohm bracelet: gift from friend's trip to India

Layered dress: $40 a little Indian shop

Pinstriped skirt: a Melrose boutique - I can't recommend these places enough - they're packed with great stuff all for around $30 - one must dig through racks of bejeweled camo and unfortunate screen-prints, but it's worth the battle.

Leggings: $8 Forever 21

Boots: Melrose, cheap.

Zoetica Ebb is a painter, SG style technician, make up artist, alt. model, photgrapher & occasional cosmonomad. Born in Moscow, Russia, she was raised by a troup of gypsy scientists from space, who sold her to an American technological research facility in 1992. After a daring escape, she graduated from the LA County High School for the Arts, retreated into the rumored underground atelier where she studied with the much-revered fashion guru Madame Von Kuntzertag, followed by a brief stint at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She's traveled the world, gathering fashion expertise and is thrice certified as official Finesse Monitor to the Khan throne. She likes pretty flowers, actually. I wonder why my first impressions of women's hair changes is always negative? I have to let it grow on me over a few days. And so it shall be with the choice of "Blurple." I did like the eyebrow treatment right away, though. You are one of a kind.

The clothing choices are sweet. And they're all you. And as your layers continue to get lighter and shorter with each passing month, we boys begin looking forward to August.

Nice combination.
I -heart- many layers, too, but being in Australia means I can only do it for a couple of days each year. In my boyish way.

See, now you're making me miss my blue hair. Still, glad I have that streak left. I'm 100% with you on the layers. That's why I knew I could never live in LA... even in September the weather was too hot for me to wear the layers I wanted. The one grey day we had I was happier than a bunny at a lettuce farm. The necklace is to die for, also.
