Um, what an odd thing to say about someone who managed to escape several eras in which many around him were lost to drugs but somehow managed to sidestep the daemons of addiction and go on to still produce chart-topping albums and still demonstrates a never-wavering steel-trap memory. I love art, and though I'm a bit of an artist (mediocre at best), I coulnt consider myself an art expert, but I wouldn't have to be either to have learned at least the name of Matisse in grade school art class.

I have a lot of art classes under my belt, the snobbishness within which I found so posh and non-cerebral that has bolstered my total lack of appreciation for the "Old Masters," as it were. Value isn't fixed as it once was, in this day and age. A Matisse is worth about as much to me as a damp cheeseburger wrapper on a hot summer afternoon, without any cheese on the paper.
