I'm renting a car this week since I'll be very busy shooting bands and interviewing some bands here in NYC. I need some advice which would be the "best" car to show up in? 2006 Chevy Cobalt or a 2006 Pontiac G6? Both very good looking sexy sleek cars... help me out I'm undecided and I have my pick up for tomorrow mourning smile

Oh yeah and another thing before I forget, this might be a bit irrelevant but if I rent the G6 its going to cost me about $40-50 bucks extra

no one really cares what you are driving.

i always use http://www.ccrentalnyc.com/rates.html for jobs.

if you're moving the band and your gear, get a 15 passenger van. if no one has ever heard of them and you're paying for the vehicle, just cram everyone into a minivan.

By tank I'm assuming that your saying to rent the G6 since that's the bigger car out of the two smile

G6 is bigger and more powerful. Black with aluminum rims aint to shabby for a production car.

Why do you need a car to interview bands in NYC?

With a very few exceptions, a car in Manhattan (and a lot of Queens and Brooklyn) is a bigger hassle than it's worth.

you nailed it. I used to run an 18 wheeler OTR and i would cry like a baby anytime i had to go near NYC. It's 24/7 traffic. It's like a sport there

First off I've been here all my life so I'm use to the traffic and I use to drive in NYC constantly. Another thing is that I do need a car to interview and shoot bands from time to time, many reasons but my main one is the fact that I don't like taking 2 hour subway rides carrying my $2000 camera and all of my equipment after a show around 1 in the mourning... that's reason enough, I don't live in the safest nieghborhood ya know whatever

dude, i used to have that same exact job (shooting bands). no one gives a fuck what kind of car you're driving. hell, most likely, the band won't even see it. just take whichever is cheaper and not worry about rolling in in style. they might end up just thinking you're a jackass if they find out you rented the car for style and not convienence. just a head's up from someone who's been in that field before. seriously, i've seen photographers not hired back for dumber reasons.

Hmm. As a matter of personal comfort, I always roll in the best thing I can afford. I'm also not into wasting money but I truly feel that life's too short to cheap out on yourself if you don't have to, so drive whatever makes you happy.

It's true Far Rockaway is no picnic but you can take the L.I.R.R for alot cheaper, safer than the A train too.

We're taking a road trip to Vegas and then on to CA in April. I'm taking equipment and stuff and honestly, I couldn't give two fucks about the rental we're getting.

We're going to rent something I thought I'd never drive in my life - a fucking minivan. Yay. It's practical for what we're doing though.

You may all point and laugh. biggrin

If I remember correctly a van or minivan in NYC is like gold and requires a huge deposit due to the fact so many people want to move stuff, and leave the city sometimes too.
