Just remember that people were quick to assume the guys at Duke raped a stripper when the report first came out. There just simply isn't enough evidence for anyone to form an intelligent opinion of the case.

Considering the denial, emotional torture, and trauma that women who are raped go through, 7 months really isn't that long a time. I'm not saying this guy is or isn't guilty, but "she waited a while to report it" is not a good argument against her.
That is very true Morgan, I guess I never thought of that. I bet a court of law would use it against her though, if any of this is in fact true. Sad.
yeah, so often rape, especially acquaintance rape is one person's word against another, making proof beyond a reasonable doubt very difficult.
I've never, ever felt the least bit of shame over that. Still Angry after all these years, but never ashamed.
But where's your righteous rage, seeking retribution? Lingering anger and resentment is not righteous rage. Even you didn't react in the way that you say you would understand or expect someone to, and if even you didn't react that way, why is it so hard to imagine that other people would also not react that way?
Perhaps the alleged victim waited so long to report it because she also knew that it would take forever for law enforcement to do anything, and only reported it once the alleged rapist admitted to the crime via email.
Rape is serious which is why I think this kind of thing shouldn't be discussed too much (I mean this is a good article because it doesn't lean either guilty or non guilty) because if the woman is lying that's shit, if he's guilty, that's shit. I hope that the wrong person doesn't get fucked here. I take these rape things a little more questionably when it comes to famous people (or musicians) because of their popularity and stuff. But I would never report a false rape so I'm inclined to hope that this woman didn't. Not that I want him to be guilty.

No small part of it was that the US Army could easily have punished me, under Color Of Law, if anyone involved took it all wrong.
No one in this country is doing that to Female rape victims. Iran is another matter...
I was just pointing out that a Man isn't automatically immune, that some of us might have at least half a clue.
Yeah, why would she delay reporting the rape when women who've reported rape or sexual assault by a celebrity (even a nobody like this clown) have been treated so well? Maybe she didn't want her identity leaked "accidentally," her life threatened by disgruntled fans or her name dragged through the mud like has happened time and again in cases like this.
And don't fret too much for his good name if he's innocent: R. Kelly still sold a million records while Chappelle was crooning "Piss On You."
Dominic Is a really Good friend of mine and he take my pics for me. He is not a rapist. He loves his GF very much and he wouldnt ever do anything like this. I will see that bitch in court!

No one is coming down one way or the other. Of course, no one (not ONE PERSON) so far has said anything to the effect of "I hope she's OK." Instead it's "Man, it's going to suck for him if he's innocent" or "7 months seems like a long time, doesn't it?"
Again, your reactions are telling. It's reactions like this that are part of the reason why people wait 7 months or don't report rape at all or feel shame when they do. Because when you accuse someone of rape it is often the accuser who ends up being the accused.
Actually, my comment was directed more at the "he's fucked even if he didn't do it" camp.
I don't have a "gut feeling" or the slightest incline as to what took place.
I honestly don't know who is telling the truth and who is lying. I think you're looking for something in my "reaction" that isn't there. If she were the one on trial - I'd be asking that no one hang her or assume she's guilty without facts too.

I love seeing the "he's a nice guy" defense.
Women are raped by "nice guys" all the time.
Sadly this is true. A close friend of mine was raped twice by different guys with whom I had spent the good part of the day with, seemed like great guys.
We all wear a mask from day to day, you just can't be sure if the face you are seeing is the real person inside or some well acted charade.
I have no clue if he did it or not nor do I really want to know. I just hope for two things.
For his sake, if he didn't do it, I hope the court can see through the lies and whatever twisted motives she has and stop it before his image is further tarnished.
For her sake, if he did do it, I hope he gets his own version of "Date Rape" by Sublime (the ending, not the beginning).

What ever. He is a really good friend of mine. I know he didnt do it.
Chemira, you can't say you know he didn't do it. You just believe he didn't do it or can't imagine him doing it based on how he acts around you.
You couldn't possibly know for sure unless you were actually witnessing what (or what didn't) take place.
A girlfriend of mine (not my current) was molested and later raped repeatedly by her own father from age 9 to age 18. Her mother "knew" her father would never do that to his own daughter.
This is one of those sticky topics, and like all beginning news stories really shouldn't be in a discussion board, where there are so many differencing opinions.
1. Rape is a difficult topic, and a HUGE hot button issue. (for both sexes)
2. We don't know all the facts, we aren't the prosecutors, polices, the man involved, or the young woman.
3. 7 months is a very SHORT time for a human being (thats right folks, she's a human), to come forward with something like this. Some take years, and some never do. So stop judging the "time frame" of why/how/who.
4. If the guy didn't do it, no his life isn't over, he'll be able to move on, and do other things. Yes certain people won't want to associate with him, or work with him... guess what others do the same, based on skin, language, or other indiscernible reasons. Get over it, it's called life.
4.5 Granted he has more of a change, why? Money and fame, will do wonders for ones problems... just look at R. Kelly, Micheal Jackson, or OJ Simpson.
5. If the young woman did lie, then she needs to get help, and I hope she does, not just some judge sentencing her to jail time, where more issues will come up, not solutions.
In the end, again, NONE of us know these people, only they do.
He could have done it.
She could be lying.
He could be innocent.
She could be telling the truth.
Either way, we don't know what happened, and none of us were there.
So cool your jets folks, because getting angry at one another (or them) for any reason doesn't help.
Honestly? I'm hoping he didn't do it.
Because if he did, that young lady will have to live with that for the rest of HER natural life.
Frankly, I see rape worse then murder, mainly for that the victim never will get proper retribution.
That's my piece, I mean no offense to either "side" on this.

I'm willing to bet 99% of men who have raped have someone who would say "He is a really good friend of mine. I know he didn't do it."
