I'm applauding the kid, not putting him (or you, or anyone else) down. Relax. I was responding to the general tone in the thread, not you specifically.

But not all geniuses are college material.
Chris Langan for example http://www.ctmu.org/
And not all geniuses are all that creative either if constant use of cliches while speaking is an index of creativity which in my opinion it is.
His CTMU theory is interesting in how much it parallels some mysitical ideas I've been exposed to like the kaballah's mana from heaven (having faith in God to proide and he does).
Calculus AB and BC and...Macro and Micro economics?
what, did they think we were stupid?
good for him, there was no fucking way in hell we could even TAKE 13 AP classes in a year. The max we could have in a year was 6 I think. No 8 if you were crazy. I took all of 5 AP exams in my high school career. Straight 4's.
Although really, this doesn't necessarily mean he's that smart. It could just mean everyone else is that stupid, since the scores are subjective. By that I mean a "perfect" 5 is determined by a bracket of student's scores. It's a sliding scale is what it is...
although, granted, he is probably a freakin' genius.
Book sense isn't a worthless something that destroys you; academics aren't just the domain of antisocial losers, and to some of us, learning for learning's sake is living at its very fucking best. And sometimes to be able to get the best access to knowledge, you have to push yourself.
Agreed. How can people settle for anything less?
It's a real shame how learning is tarnished with the terrible stain of nerdiness and 'uncool'ness. It's a shame not just for the sake of other nerds, but for society in general.
Granted, for many of us, high school was an awful prison of authoritarianism and violence, combined with the insanity of hormones, self-discovery and rebellion. For me, it had very little to do with education, so I skipped class and spent all my time at the library. (And yes, I got shit grades and failed many classes for non-attendance. I regret it.)
But Kudos to this guy for rising above it and kicking ass.
He's smart. He works hard. He did well, and he deserves at least some congratulations -- not the sour grapes I keep seeing in this thread.
His benefits will come. In five years, nobody's gonna give a shit whether or not he got laid in high school -- (even though I secretly bet he's getting some right now, while we're all typing messages to each other on the internet.)
