This week NBC New was forced to interrupt a feature report by Tom Brokaw on some garbage about health with breaking news: that the world was ready for porn on a major news network, and in Phoenix, Arizona, no less.

Viewers of a news show broadcast on a Phoenix-area cable television station received a lot more than news _ hard-core pornography started streaming into their living rooms, replacing a health show featuring former NBC News anchor Tom Brokaw.

The incident on KPPX-TV Monday night prompted a flood of calls to local news media outlets and cable provider Cox Communications, including one from Chandler resident Brenda Schodt, who said she was shocked to look up and see graphic sex acts on her television screen.

Unfortunately, the incident was not an act of God but the work of a stealthy human saboteur hell bent on introducing the world to quality programming. This hero has disappeared back into the shadows but media network ION Television is investigating the possibility that the act was performed internally.

ON Television, which operates KPPX, called the problem "an act of human sabotage" at its station.

"We have launched a rigorous investigation, and any implicated employees will face strict disciplinary action and termination," ION Media Networks spokeswoman Leslie Monreal said in a prepared statement.

Since the incident more people are watching the news and actually paying attention, becoming personally involved in regional and national issues. The world is a better place.

That last part is a lie. But wouldn't it be great if porn saved us?

Reminds me of hearing about a professor who put slides of nude women into his presentations to keep peoples attention. Needless to say some women were offended.

My psychology professor last year also taught the Human Sexuality class, and during his lectures just for fuck's sake (pun not intended) he'd show us porn clips that he used for "educatonal purposes" in the sexuality class. It was the best hour and fifty minutes of institutionally regulated crude nudity ever.

On topic: I think the news needs to be hacked a bit more frequently.

I just think it is interesting that you can show scenes of violence but you show one act of nature that does not involve an animal and people freak out.
