This might be at once the saddest and most hopeful story I've ever heard. A young girl lived for five weeks enduring torture like no man has known. She suffered hiccups occurring at an average of 50 hiccups per minute.

She sipped pickle juice, held her breath, breathed into a bag, even went to a neurologist, but for more than five weeks nothing would stop a 15-year-old girl's rapid hiccups.

I would kill myself.

Finally, the curse put on Jennifer by pure evil ended when the girl discovered the magic of hypnotism. Debbie Lane purged Jennifer of this horrible monster, and as Jennifer awoke from her trance she uttered the words "I love you."

Jennifer Mee, 15, said the nonstop muscle spasms that made her life miserable for more than a month ended just after 5 p.m. Wednesday while she was under hypnosis.

"I said, 'Wow. Is it really over?' and I cried," she said Thursday after an appearance on a Tampa radio station. She hiccupped once during this interview.

Hypnotist Debbie Lane of Palm Harbor said she spent two hours with Mee on Wednesday, tapping into her subconscious, "which controls emotions, habits and memories." About 15 minutes into a second session, the hiccups stopped.

"It was the most beautiful moment of my life when I heard that girl call her mother and say, 'Mommy, I don't hurt anymore,'" Lane said.

Jennifer was able to sleep during the five week period only while heavily medicated. Still, as soon as she woke up she resumed hiccuping. She had to take a leave of absence from school. Hypnotism saves yet another life.

Here is Jennifer's appearance on the Today show, where we learn the true meaning of pain.

what is truly sad here is that she'll never grow up to be a lovable hiccuping old drunkard.

i feel bad for her, but it's kind of funny watching the video and hearing her hiccup as other people were talking. I get the hiccups for more than five minutes and i am irritated.

that is so awful. I rarely get the hiccups but when I do, I'll get them 9 or 10 times a day and it gets old fast...

Huh?

It was interesting whenI first heard about it a month ago. Then, it was interesting again when I heard about her being cured...two weeks ago.

Forgive me if I find it weird that a Newswire is posting shit that's already been covered by everybody, many times, a while back.

well God forbid that the Newswire didn't check with you first. I am sure they will adjust their behavior in the future as to not upset you again your highness.

Err...I'm not complaining. I just think it's odd. To me, "News" is usually timely.

But yes, checking with me first is usually a good idea before doing anything. That's the first smart thing you've said.

I'll be sure to check with you before pointing anything interesting out about the Newswire. God forbid you should feel like I was criticizing anybody!

News to me is anything i didn't know about. I had never heard about this before, and hence found it interesting. Just because you've heard about it, doesn't mean everyone has.

i thought the same thing, that i was surprised she didn't kill herself or try to.
i can't imagine that poor girl's frustration! for all she knew, it could have lasted forever!
hiccups make me grumpy after only a few minutes.
i was so glad to see she was better...
the stories on the news said her family had taken her to every kind of doctor available. they even had her screened for brain tumors and neurological disorders. poor kid must have been terrified!

AFAIC, if it hasn't been mentioned on the boards, it's fair game for the news wire.

Everytime I get the hiccups, I get scared that I'll be one of those people that gets them for 5 years non-stop. I have the hiccups that hurt.
