I have noticed lately more and more people give the finger with their two surrounding fingers partly cocked (ex:A) . I have always liked the fist with one finger extended (ex:B), it always seemed more angry, the other seeming more feminine. Can anyone explain how they came upon the other way, is it regional?. Not sure if that makes sense if it doesn't well......

My dad taught me to do it with the surrounding fingers partially extended. He said it means more that way. I'm serious.

When I give the finger I usually use those froo-froo gift bags with the fancy tissue paper. Mostly 'cause I can't wrap for shit.

Ok, first of all It's called FLIPPING THE BIRD. And it's best done without the accompaniment of the half fingers on each side. I think it's somewhat regional, we here in the west tend to do it wrong, Dave Grohl being an exception. If you want an authoritive opinion, just poll NYC taxi drivers.

I always liked to woo her a bit before I gave her the finger. You know, some wine, roses, a room with a nice view. It helps get her ready for it.

Like many of life's most important questions, this can be answered by asking "What would Johnny Cash do?"

I got into an argument about this once, until I realized that there was absolutely nothing I could do that would be a bigger waste of my time.

Partially extended surrounding fingers is just lazy, something like a "Hey here's the back of my hand, featuring: my middle finger."

Ball the fist and flip the bird like a man.

The two finger 'reverse peace sign'(where you present a peace sign with the back of your hand facing the viewer) flip off comes from archers( I think british poss french) would show off thei middle and ring finger to show they could still draw a bow to the opposing side, and it turned into a flip off gesture we still have today, I love historical obscenities especially when they have that kind of rebelliousness to it.

I prefer that way but I dont really do either so its kind of moot.

It should always be combined with the Italian Elbow Gesture for full effect, and preferably using the V sign, rather than the middle finger. Swearing is an artform.
