I'm tired of spending money of blades so I decided to get an electric shaver. The only problem is I've only ever shaved with blades so I know nothing about electric shavers. I know they wont be as smooth but I could care less these days. Anyone have any brands they would recommend? surreal

I used to have one. It was a Norelco and I hated it. It supposedly had some "lift and cut" feature which felt more like "snag and yank". Stick with the blade.

i'm a hairy motherfucker, so i've used a bunch of things (with the exception of the barber shop type long blade). anyway, if time is not an option for you, i'm quite keen on cheap ass bic disposables, so i'd recommend those. i actually get better shaves from those single blade cheap disposables than the fancy 3/4/5 blade gillette things.

as for electrics, if you're going to get one, definitely spend some money on it. all the ones i've ever bought were the cheaper options, and ultimately ended up sucking. i ended up having to get better ones over again anyway, spending more money in the long run.

as far as which electric had the best shave. i wasn't a big fan of the 3-headed ones at all. i preferred the flat rounded ones. and i tried norelco, remington, and braun, and out of those 3 the braun was far superior.

they blow. I have a pretty decent Braun one, but even with that, I have to finish up with a blade.

I have used a blade only once in my life and can't imagine doing it every day. That being said, I onlly shave once every week or two. My beard can get pretty full in that time but I like the way it looks(Red, Argonian)

No, not usually. Closest shave you can get is with a straight razor.

Electric shavers suck. They require a significant amount of maintenance if you want it to work properly for any length of time. You have to clear the hair & scum out of it regularly...and I don't know if you know this...but electric shaver blades go dull too. You will have to replace them eventually.

If you insist on getting an electric shaver...prepare to have a raw face for a few weeks while you get used to the difference. Electric shavers pass a blade over your skin constantly. This is what causes razor burn. The fewer razor strokes...the less severe the razor burn.

Also...if you still insist on getting an electric razor...I strongly recommend you use a skin primer like L'ectric Shave.

Using a manual blade gives you the fewest amount of razor strokes. I use a manual blade. I don't use a lot or fru-fru facial prep products...and to be honest, I don't always use shaving cream.

Sometimes, I just use a moistened razor. However...I always use a sharp blade and I always shave right after a shower...and I never get razor burn.

Only two out of three agree with that.

Anyway, Samuraipupy, I have purchased 'lectric shavers in the past only to have them rot and corrode (and waste space) in a bathroom drawer. I've tried two Brauns and one Panasonic and with all three purchases, I've gone back to razors.

Not to mention, every time you switch to electric shavers, you have that 10-30 day period where your face gets irritated to hell. This even happened with that so-called wet shaver from Panasonic.

Gillette Fusion is the current weapon of choice.

My first shaver was an electrical (Norelco), and it was terrible. Fortunately, it broke several months after I got it. The manual is infinitely better.

I use a Braun. Clean up with a blade. Fast and easy.

Much faster than going the whole shaving cream and blade technique.

Whoa...so you got rid of the electric but kept the manual? Don't you ever worry about paper cuts?

I have a Linear wet / dry electric & have had it for over 2 years now . Have never had a problem with it . Having said that , it doesn't get as close as a blade , but I also don't go to work with tiny cuts all over my neck like I used to .
