I don't want to detract from what these guys are doing, I'd just like to state that this really is nothing new, here in good old industrial Pittsburgh back in 1997 there was a band in my area called Ruckus that did the exact same thing with found objects. They were all drummers from bands, and local high school drum lines. There was about 5 or 6 players at the time. They then went on to play a lot of Rave festivals all over the country, and add a DJ into the mix until calling it quits I think around 2000.
I think it's important for people to know the background of this kind of music, and those that have come before the SDC that have made this style of music famous. It really is and has been a culture unto itself for years in many many cities.

Agreed! I grew up in Southern California and there were various groups who did similar things. I think the unique part about SDC is they've actually made a serious and successful go of it. I'm sure that every region has some sort of version of this exact genre, but SDC made it legit beyond the theatre scene where "Stomp" became a household word.
