Girl you know it's true! Earlier today, Daily Variety dished details on Universal Pictures' plans to develop a movie based on the snivel-story of Milli Vanilli — the laughable lip-synchers from Germany who had their Grammy revoked in 1990 after the truth surfaced that the duo never actually sang on their albums.

Writer and director Jeff Nathanson (Catch Me If You Can, Speed 2: Cruise Control) has reportedly signed on to craft the epic tale of fame-turned-tragic humiliation. Nathanson says,

"I've always been fascinated by the notion of fakes and frauds, and in this case, you had guys who pulled off the ultimate con, selling 30 million singles and 11 million albums and then becoming the biggest laughing-stocks of pop entertainment."

Milli Vanilli's Fabrice Morvan will act as consultant on the film, however his better-half, Rob Pilatus, will not — seeing as he died of a drug overdose in 1998.

Nathanson is also currently scripting the fourth Indiana Jones installment. Blame it on the rain if the movie sucks...

Nathanson has a credit for the story for Indiana Jones IV, not the script.

It might be quite a funny film, this.

the fact that indiana jones 4 is being written offends me far more than a film about milli vanilli. by the way, I wish I could've been in the studio when someone said "man this Girl You Know It's True would be a great song if two dreadlocked black men in bike shorts were singing it"

That'd be rad if all of their lines were dubbed over by other actors. 70's Kung Fu movie style. smile

If they show behind the scenes of the Grammy selection process it will be worth it.

it's weird, I was watching something about Milli Vanilli (it was probably that stupid E thing) and thinking "this would make a great movie". The fact is, back in the 80s (for a little while) these two fakes had the world fooled and were making millions of dollars. They even won a fucking grammy.
It's really pretty funny (not funny that the one dude killed himself over it, though)

Yeah, I don't see why people have a problem with this...sounds like an interesting, weird story to me.

Even if this movie is terrible, I don't see why this would stop you from going to the movies. Bad movies (books, meals, songs, dates, wines, games, people, days) have always existed.

Do you sit alone in the dark in your apartment, afraid to leave lest you witness something that sucks? Great life.
