I am looking for recommendations for a tattoo parlor to go to someplace in Manhattan. Obviously there are a lot of them, but I need to go to a very clean place that is serious about maintaining sterile technique. As in, autoclaves everything. I haven't yet decided whether I'm really going to get one or not, because I need medical clearance because of a chronic illness I have. But I do need suggestions, and what better place to get them than from here.

I get work done at Last Rights a lot, look it up it's a very good tattoo shop. It's located on 33rd and 10th Ave ( I believe)

fineline tattoo is awesome. they are the first tattoo shop that opened up after it became legal again in NYC during the 90's. tons of knowledge, experience, diversity in style, and they're definitely a clean shop.

ymonster is Last Rites' Tim Kern. His color work is amazing, and there isn't a bad artist in the shop.

Ask in the tattoo group because there are 3-4 other good shops that I can't think of and you'll want to shop around to find someone who specializes in the style you are looking for.
