With my general theme regarding movies, what is your favorite anime? Mine is Princess Mononoke, but I just saw Spirited Away last night. OMG EVERYONE SHOULD SEE IT! Im a huge fan of Miyazaki, granted, but even if you dont like Anime, go with something by him. Try it. Youll like it.

I just saw FLCL (furi-kuri!) and it's suddenly become my current favorite. It's funny, weird, stylish, has great action scenes, and is occasionally emotional. Usually I don't even like the cuter type stuff, but this won me over.

question.. what's so great about spirited away?

answer... NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

okay... seriously.. that was just not a good movie... the only reason i can see why everyone is jumping up this movies ass is cos disney bought it out or some shit... in my opinion that movie had a lame story, the characters were annoying and well, as for the fat ass witch lady that ran the bath house... what was with the introducing her twin sister out of nowhere?

to this day nothing beats vampire hunter D... blood lust and the first one stand head and shoulders above every anime i've seen in terms of story, characters and action... granted robotech rocks too, and akira is fucking a maesterwurk, no one can fuck with D

I'm not sure that this counts as real anime, but it's still very cool:

Dude, Im not even going to sink to your level and try to even fathom why anyone could possibly think that spirited away was bad. Instead, I am gonna KICK YOU IN THE JUNK!!!

Well, my associates have just informed me that it is near impossible to KICK SOMEONE IN THE JUNK!!! over the internet. But xMachinax (if that is your real name!) you have started a fued, oh yes, a blood fued. So if your man enough, meet behind the malt shop at noon tommorow! No no wait, I cant skip school or my mom will have my ass. Ummm hows three oclock?

Ooh, some good stuff posted. My favorites so far have been Princess Mononoke, Escaflowne, Evangelion, Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust (never really liked the original) and Lain, although I haven't finished it yet. I've heard good things about Spirited Away, but haven't seen that yet, either.

On a different note, what was the first anime you guys have seen? Mine was Bio-Booster Armor Guyver, also made into a live-action movie. And unless I'm thinking of something else, the movie version of Iria came out first, so we have that crappy live-action movie to thank for the much-improved cartoon.

My first Anime was bubblegum crisis when I was 7 or so, and I remember it had naked chicks and HOO BOY that was a trip back then.

My favorite anime's are Evangelaion, Cowboy Bebob (the best anime seris I've ever seen), I like both Vampire Hunter D's and the animation was outstanding in Bloodlust. Princess Mononoke, Metropolis (best Anime movie I've seen), His and Her Circumstance,.

As for the first anime, i think it was Voltron when I was a kid.

skull Akira is definetly one of the best animes' ever made. The comic is so much better though. They recently re-released the entire series in graphic novels. Ghost in the Shell is also another great one as well as Ninja Scroll. And RG Veda (the 3 VHS set) is really an unsung masterpiece. Has anyone seen that?

Another vote for Ghost in the Shell...Blood of the Vampire was beautiful but seriously lacking in plot...Vampire Hunter D is a close second.

You've gotta see Bastard, that's some cool anime. Lupin III is also pretty cool. But by far, the deepest anime, story-wise, has gotta be the Robotech movies.
I don't think it's considered anime, but the art in Samurai Jack kicks ass.
