It's that magical time of year when we start receiving our W-2 forms. I just filed my taxes online and am getting about $450 back this year. Sadly, most of that will probably go to getting my car fixed. *le sigh*

So have you started your taxes yet, or are you waiting until Apr. 15th? Paying or getting refunded? Do 'em yourself, or take them somewhere? What're you gonna blow your refund money on? Am I the only weirdo that gets excited about filing my taxes?

Discuss.

I've always gotten a refund and done my taxes myself. But last year I hitched myself to someone who was an independent contractor for nine months and an employee for the remaining months and changed my tax status to married filing jointly. I'm thinking I'm going to have to hire an accountant this year.

I'm gonna do mine online most likely, and I'll probably get a refund for federal but owe for state. And' Im thinking about buying an Xbox 360 or a new cell phone with the mad skrilla I'll be getting back.

My mom swears by turbotax, and her's are fairly complicated. She has two jobs, as well as some self employed stuff, plus my fathers wages, and their earnings from stocks. I've never used it myself, but looking at it, it seems pretty easy to use.

As for myself, I haven't gotten my w-2 yet. my mommy does mine for me. I used to get back all the time, but I have a season job, and collect unemployment for a few months a year. Even with them taking taxes out of that, it generally kills any return I get.

I do mine online with TurboTax, but my return isn't very complicated. One W-2, no other income to report and I take the standard deduction. The only extra thing I have to do is my EIC for combat pay. Took me all of 45 mins to do.

Bastard. When I was married with two children I'd pull returns like that every year. Now, not so much.

Nope, I look forward to tax returns, too. I will be getting enough to go on a nice Caribbean cruise, so I''m REALLY looking forward to it this year.

I haven't gotten my W-2 back yet, but I'll probably only be looking at getting a few hundred back, so I won't be doing anything special with it.

You know... that $6k return isn't really a good thing. You want as small a return as you can so that that money is going into your bank during the year. Have it in a good yeild fund (ING.com is one of many decent ones) that way you earn 5.5% or so on that $6,000. But meh, for some that money wouldn't see the light of day and their return is like a savings fund in a way.

I want my darn W-2 so I can file mine, stupid jobs.

I haven't filed last years yet, so I get double the cash back this year. Of course that will all go to debt, but I might buy a new TV.

My mom does mine, as she's an accountant, and a damned good one at that.

I usually get a refund from federal, but regional taxes me twice (where I live and where I work) so I always owe them about as much as I get from the federales.

I always thought it was only the state you work in that is allowed to tax you. But if your mom's an accountant, I'm sure she knows the score. That's really fucked though.
