I'm lost
April 2003

I am going here tonight. It looks like they are all over the place. Have any of you ever been to one? What is it like?

I know it's expensive, but it's suppose to be really good, right?

it's expensive, and the quality depends on how good you are at using the fondue pot. the ingredients are fine, but you're paying a lot of money to not have a professional chef prepare your meal. it's fun for a date, I guess, but fondue seems like more of a party food to me... fondue restaurants make me grumpy.

I have never used a fondue pot. I know what it is. But had no idea there was a trick to it.

Fill me on the trick, please.

I don't know if there's a trick, really. you have a pot of boiling liquid, and some cut up pieces of meat and vegetables, and when you put the two together it's really easy to end up with half your food overcooked and half of it undercooked, and all of it kind of bland.

but the cheese fondue they give you for your bread is fantastic, and the chocolate dessert fondue is impossible to do wrong. it's not all bad!

Well I don't eat meat. So I don't have to worry about my food being undercooked. So I should be okay, right?

also, I haven't been there since I was in high school... I know a lot more about cooking now, so it would probably go better. but it still annoys me to pay all that money for the privilege of cooking my own food.

well, they make it pretty hard for you to poison yourself anyway. I'm sure you'll have fun!

Yeah we have another resturant like that here, called the Prime Quarter. I have never been there, but it too is super expensive and basicly you go there pick out your meat and then you grill it yourself. I don't get that concept.

But I am excited to go the Melting Pot as I have never been there, never done fondue and it's kinda like a date, so maybe I won't have to pay. wink

Indeed. After dinner we went to Target and I debated buying my own fondue pot. I didn't. But I am still thinking about getting one in the future.
