Summer of 2000 for me. I had to lick the noodle brick and sprinkle the beef-salt on, and wash it down with rainwater. Ah, memories. Thanks, Mr. Ando.

How many of you just ate the bricks raw when you were kids?
I still do from time to time, just to shake things up! shocked

oh, i totally did as a kid! it was the cool thing to do in 4th/5th grade for lunch..we crumbled the noodle bricks up like chips and sprinkled the seasoning packet on and shook it up in a plastic baggy...it was good!

and on a side note...i had ramen for lunch on Saturday! good stuff.

Everyone says I'm a freak, but whatever. I do what I want! It's what ramen is meant for.

Ramen is the ultimate in punk cuisine.

Thank you for your countless contributions throughout the modern college era, Momofuku-san. Your gift to the world was more important than any course I've taken so far and you will be missed. Even though you are no longer with us, your love for the poor will live on through the clogged arteries of our hearts. RIP, Sir.

I'm going to make a pot of ramen right now, and then pour a little of it on the sidewalk, for my homie.

Argh, his product got me through many a hard time. G-d bless this man and may his brilliant mind rest in peace.

I think we should organize a world-wide Ramen eating day. No one eats anything except Ramen that day and watch society crumble.

it just dawned on me that the friends that throw the water out are asian(vietnemese to be exact), and the friends who drink the soup part are of mexican decent. could it be a cultural thing? confused

I think it was last year that an undergrad at UChicago did her BA project on ramen noodles. A really interesting, brief article on global capitalism via ramen follows for anyone interested:

Cool - ny newspaper didn't show up this morning, so thanks for the 5 AM read!

For the Top Ramen I like the Spicy Vegetble and for the Cup Noodles I like Spicy Cheese.

Here are some
recipes for customizing Top Ramen as shown on the Nissin Food Products website.
